Picked up a 2001 Camaro SS vert 6 speed bone stock and looking into either a turbo setup or Heads cam package. Motor has 170k miles. Last Car I built did 546rwhp uncorrected on a dyno dynamics through a stalled th400 with an 80mm turbo on a 165k mile stock ls1 only internal mod was valve springs. Whats the Hot setup for heads and cam these days for the most power?

Can't go wrong with TFS heads. I'd suggest getting the TFS 220cc as cast heads from Brian Tooley, and then have him do some hand porting/blending on them. As for cam, go with a guy like Martin at Tick Performance for a custom grind. Another great head option would be the Advanced Induction Dart/RHS fully CNC's 223cc heads. I have them, and they are a great set of heads.
I do want to ask you though, why heads and cam, especially after having a turbo LS in the past? You could probably do another turbo build for cheaper than it would be to do a heads/cam build.

You seriously going turbo OP? I'd love to as well, but part of me wants to make a run at a max effort, zero ***** given NA combo. What I have now is fun as hell and makes crazy power, but I could really step things up by putting in a bigger cam, flycutting, raising compression, and running a real intake/TB setup. Thicker walled pushrods and an underdrive pully as well. Top it off with a custom made cold air intake setup with a velocity stack and I should be at, or over, 500 rwhp.

That brings to mind a topic I been thinking on for a long time. Wow, forced induction has gone crazy lately. We all want the knowledge that we spent our money effectively, and the sensation and joy when we hit the go pedal. But, satisfaction and acceleration comes in many forms, no one way is right. So, weigh your options. For me, I love power all the time, I love simplicity, and I love being bold. I don't want a bottle to fill, I don't want a mile of pipe under my hood, and I don't want something that could pass off as stock. So for me, ultimate satisfaction would come from a high compression big cube motor with a wicked cam lope and an open cutout making you deaf when you hit the gas. So, I will go against the grain and stay NA!
