I'd wait until you know 100% for sure what intake you're going to roll with before getting the cam. I myself am up in the air between the MSD and Vararam.

I'm fairly certain I'm going with the Vararam. After speaking with Patrick several times, I'm completely sold.

I am with you, completely sold on the VaraRam!
I predict it will Significantly Outperform both the MSD, and
FAST 102, even with Various Runners!
I have known Patrick 15+ years, Super Smart and the guy is
Monomaniacal about Intake Manifold Design,
not shy either! LOL

Well you guys are good salesmen. I'm looking forward to seeing it available. Is the pricing going to be on par with MSD and the FAST 102mm?

It's going to be around that level, yes. I don't want to get into specifics bc I really don't know where the chips are going to fall.

Well, I shall sit back and keep my eyes and ears open. I am fairly certain I'm going to be going the procharged route. I should be able to save up enough money over the spring/summer to piece together a kit.

Glad to know you're continuing with this build. You had put those nice MAST heads for sale at one time. Or did you sell them, and went with something different?

I know this sounds like a dumb question but what's the most you've seen someone pick up from a great set of heads? Is it possible to gain 50 RWHP?

I'm sticking with them. I listed them over a complete misunderstanding... (Home related) and again, it was a complete misunderstanding.

50 is absolutely not out of the question, in a very well optimized setup. Not many people do heads only with stock cam though. Normally it's an "all at once" type of deal where the heads and cam are installed together.

Now if the cam was installed first, and the heads later, with all things being right (cam matched to heads, somehow in advance) then yes I can see 50.

Intakes, intakes, intakes! I had a good friend today install his MSD and have it tuned. It's was on an LS7, so there's probably a little difference but after hours of tuning he only gained 10whp over the factory unported LS7 intake and that was from 4500-7k. Under the curve it lost power.

You got that right. The is the first "independent" test I have heard about. Sounds like they really detailed the tune in trying to exact the most horsepower.

I wonder if the 10 horsepower gain was from the detailed tuning? See if you can get more information. A dyno chart would be really be great.

Could be. The tuner worked hard and long in th tune. Street tuning was already done, so the only tuning needed was Dyno tuning, and it was on the dyno for over 4 hours.

I'll see if he'll send me the graph.

"it was on the dyno for over 4 hours."

That is a lot of dyno time. It looks like they tried to exact every horsepower from it.

I'm not discrediting the results and I look forward to the dyno sheet and more testing but the MSD looks like a good design how can it not at least beat out a stock ls7 everywhere?
