What new cam to go with AI 243s
My 243s are getting the 226 porting package done at AI and I wanted some input from you guys as to what would be a good cam to go with these heads as well as my current setup (stall, etc.). I'm not that knowledgeable about cams. Definitely looking for good drivability as well as power under the curve.
One recommendation was 234/240-113 .626

Tooley's stage two as well as Martin's sns-2 will all make terrific power with street friendly manners.
With A.I. doing the heads, I'm convinced an old broom handle would run well.......metaphorically speaking

I've recommended this cam several times over the past few months. During cam motions sponsorship here, and subsequent website relaunch their cams have been redone and the LS stuff has really expanded. My shelf grind which was highly recommended by Spartan Performance is now defunct and this version seems to be the closest newer cam to mine, spec wise.

I don't understand your statement at all. Why would you not give AI another dime? Are you referring to their heads, or to their cams? I'm a huge Martin fan, and run one of his cams in my car, but I'd have no issue at all allowing AI to speak a cam based on THEIR own CNC'd heads. I run AI heads, and they work fantastic.

I read through your build thread. I'm uncertain why you decide to post 416/388 in your sig for your numbers when in reality you made 426/405 which isn't bad given your exhaust setup could have used improvement and you were on a stock sized intake tract. Other people told you this yet you never responded and went on about how a cam change might help you get the results you want. People told you to keep the cam and work on supporting mods yet you ignored those too.
Here are two specific threads where AI heads with an AI spec cam made great numbers. Both builds used an identical 230/234 cam.
AI 243 makes 488/422
AI 241 makes 451/410
I am using these two because I have spoken with both users several times. One is a friend that's local. There are several other threads on this board, GTO and Vette boards as well, that show positive results from Phil's work. I don't post very often but your incessant bashing without heeding positive advice from fellow enthusiasts that will only help your build is showing your hard headed or just plain ignorant.
Lastly, as we all know a dyno is a measuring tool and nothing further. I could certainly be wrong here but I didn't see any track times to see if your trap speed was a better indicator of your car's actual power. /end rant
Sorry to derail the thread OP. As others have said, I am certain if you get with Martin or have Phil spec you a cam to your wants then you will be satisfied with either. Posting a 'what's the best part for this' thread will wind up being more confusing than helpful in most cases. Best of luck in your build!

I've got a 347" LS1 with AI 226cc 243's.
Ran a best so far of 11.26@122.8
I'm running an AI 236/242 .630/.630 111 cam.
I'm happy with everything but the cam after driving/tuning on it for 2 years. I feel given my 3rd Gen's weight (3400 race weight) and setup I should be seeing more mph. Plus it's a soggy dog below 4,000rpm, even with the 4.30's!
