Default cam selection help

I cant 100% agree on which cam I wana go with. My build thus far: iron 347 inch (5.3 block,3.905"), 241 heads-blended bowls, smoothed/polished a bit. (270ish cfm intake),BTR .650 duel springs. Melling 10295 oil pump, LS2 timing set, LS7 lifters ,7.4" .080 PEP chromemoly pushrods. Stock rockers w/trunion upgrade to come. I've been told to go with a TSP Torquer V2. This will be an NA engine and probably a daily driver. Any suggestions?

I just really want a strong street car, that can handle daily driving, and a good beating at the track/street. Possibly hit 12's at the track.

I think the Titan3 or 4 would be an excellent choice for you. I'm running a similar grind from CM and have been very pleased with it.

I like those cam motion grinds. I would also check out speed inc and flow tech induction, something like a fti streetsweeper ht would also be a good choice.

Our Torquer v.2 camshaft would be an excellent choice! Selection will certainly vary according to the overall setup. Our Torquer v.2 is a great choice for anyone wanting some nice performance gains without going too aggressive. Its specs are 232/234, .595"/.598", and your choice of LSA. We stock it on a 112 and 114 LSA, but we can grind it on whichever LSA you would like. It's also a great choice to help with valvetrain longevity because it doesn't use to aggressive of lobes to worry about valve spring life. Our Torquer v.2 is certainly a proven cam with consistent results!

Feel free to give us a call if we can help. We'll be glad to review all of your options with you!

Well which lobes is it ground on? "Not too aggressive" tells us nothing!

The torquer 2 is ground on XER lobes so I would exactly call it completely beehive friendly. I would be more comfortable with duals on that cam. Cam motions grind or something from eps will run a beehive no problem and be easier on the springs than xer lobes

That's funny, I don't go around bashing people's stuff (unless they truly deserve it) and I've heard there are a ton better cams out there then the torquer v2. Nothing wrong with it necessarily but from what I hear there are cams that are better drivers and still pull as good or better then the v2 up top. That comes from people I trust. I think there are better cams out there, even ones from TSP if that's your vendor of choice

the cam that ss recommended would would well with your setup. You could break 400rwhp but 425 is a lot to ask out of a stalled auto with a medium sized cam. Also being stock trans still you wanna decide on a mild rpm to shift at. i Wouldnt go over 6500 in my opinion. I tend to like a lower intake duration so u can mill the heads a bit more. Compression is your friend and a cheap upgrade. 229/234 111+1 with lobes of your choice would be my recommendation. 62 cc heads w/ .040 gasket

Don't get caught up in dyno numbers with an auto.

My car only made 389rwhp with better heads than yours and a 230/238 cam...but it ran hard in the 1/8th with some 7.4s@94-95mph in a 3700lb car.

I also like the Cam Motion grind mentioned above. I greatly prefer his cams due to being on better cores...worth every penny of the extra price upfront to know you won't have to do it again.

Texas Speed can probably get cams on those as well if you go custom order.

Never ran hard out back though for some reason...best was 11.67@115mph. Best trap was 116mph. Then it just started getting slower and slower, finally took it apart and now I'm replacing it with an ls2.

Plan on getting a 60E mildly built. Already got stock mls head gaskets I think .051 or whatever stock LS1 is. And the 241's im not getting milled for now. 66 cc. 5.3 block is decked a tiny bit, with flat tops
