Default junk or usable?

I picked up a lq4 from a 01 3/4ton. I knew there was 2 rods that broke but figured I take a chance.. I was hoping there wouldn't be any damage to the lower part of the cylinder. . I wasn't so lucky. The damage doesn't look to bad. But before I take it to the machine shop..am I wasting my time? does anyone else have experience with simular issue?

Why junk? The damage is below the rings. Why can;t you grind out that damaged area and use it? Cylinders are cut like that for strokers.

I'm not an LS expert, that's why I ask.

Can you tell if it's into the water???

I'd get the cam and the crank out before I made a final judgment...

From what i could see, the damage looked like it just in the small area.I'll finish taking it apart and look it over better. Maybe get some better pictures

A stroker might be machined at the base of the cylinder to provide clearance but that is a different operation than debris smashing around and potentially cracking beyond the missing material, like possibly to water.

I would want more thorough inspection, carefully grind it smooth and magnaflux, or pressure test, something............

I agree. I think at least I'll have them megnaflux the area.. maybe in the meantime I'll come across a good deal on a bare block

Default new guy with oil psi issues

hi guys! as the name states my name is Dan and i have a 2000 camaro SS. anyways i have a bit of a issue.
ok so my car. it has a LS1 that i have done some work to. she has 243 heads with otherwise stock valvetrain. stock lifters pushrods and rockers. she also has a fast 92mm intake with throttle body. volant cai, hooker LT headers with catted y pipe. borla cat back with cutout.

the issue is low oil pressure, changed the pump to a mellings 295. still getting 10psi at idle. took pump back out and shimmed the spring(3 washers) and still getting 17-20 psi hot idle. cold idle she gets 55-65 psi. going down the freeway she gets 45-50 at 70mph. im running mobil 1 10w30 with a quart of lucas...stp filter. car has a 160 degree thermostat....what gives? also tried 2 different oil pressure sending units. 1 from autozone, one from advanced.
