MMS 220 Build for "Ghost Hawk"
I filled up with Sunoco 100 octane on my last tank just to see what would happen, because I really don't want to run MMT octane boosters. Car responded tremendously well to it. Actually runs quieter and smoother on race gas vs street gas. Also, picked up at least 20 miles on that tank full. So, I may have to start playing the gas mixing game to figure out how much to blend pump gas with race gas. Figure out the minimum AKI I need, and then figure the cheapest way to get what I need.
For example, two gallons per tank of 118, 5 gallons per tank of 100, etc.
Not hitting KR or anything, just runs noticeably better on 100 octane.

Do you actually have pumps that have 100 octane gas? If so, that is damn awesome. We have nothing higher than 91 here in Kansas :/
I think I might have to experiment with octane booster. Tony said I should be perfectly safe on 91, but a little more octane never hurts (as you have found out).

It's worth it to me if I can get some more power out of it.
I'd also like to know if that clutch rattles more as it gets used. I used a clutch that while brand new was dead silent then as the floater wore a little into the flywheel/PP stands it got noisier.
So, in other news, got this done over the holiday weekend...
Kooks dual exhaust from axle forward
Kooks dual exhaust again. tried to catch the mufflers in this one, but couldn't get a good camera angle.
I got in one good start with the new clutch and exhaust installed, but no chance to really test everything out. First impressions - I was able to shift gears without the shifter ****, just using the stub coming off the shifter. Pedal feels pretty good, but I want to road test it. I have only confirmed I can shift through all the gears at idle. Also, the exhaust is louder, but it sounds SICK! Deep and throaty like a pronstarlet's voice.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Dyno won't be for a while. I'll be tracking VE's, etc for a few weeks, and I want to get the clutch worn in. I'll probably make minor clutch adjustments over a period of a few weeks as well. I'm not sure I'll get her on the dyno anytime in December. Probably closer to January. I'm not expecting too much, because that last dyno was done with basically open headers
Now, it's got some velocity and force behind it. Like using the other hand to hold your hand against the tailpipe velocity. Gases just come blasting out.
So, that tells me even with the cats crowbarred out I was still dealing with a heavy back-pressure issue, which I attribute to my crappy 90-degree merged Y-pipe. Will be interesting logging over the coming weeks to see if the timing and VE's improve

I've got work to do on idle quality now, but all out running. I thought it was fast before.
Now, its a real handful. Sounds mean, too. I like the duals, but I must have really been fighting some back pressure. It has completely opened up.
I need to log the car for a few weeks to get the tune down again before I hit the dyno. But I'm roasting 305's in third gear. Not chirping. Roasting.
On the loud question, yes they are quite loud. I'm ok with it but it caught me off guard at first. It flares really loudly at start. I've already set off a car alarm starting the car. Seems like cold start is the loudest and it quiets as it warms up, a little.
It's actually louder in the car than it is outside the car. The worst spot is right next to the rear bumper. Once you get a few feet away, it drops off fast.
I'll try to post a video but the cell phone video sound quality doesn't really tell the story of how it sounds. You lose all the bass tones, and you can't gauge volume. I keep getting errors when I try to upload so I guess I'll have to make a YouTube account or something.
