Scat I Beam Pro Comp Rods
I'd assume these have to be considerably stronger then the LS gen 4 rods?
will probably run them with a set of wiseco pistons on a turbo engine. Don't plan on turning it that high, maybe 6200-6300 rpm.
My only gripe with them is that the pin end bore was too tight and it did not have a chamfer. I just put a chamfer on the pin bore and bumped it through the hone for .001" clearance.
Depending on how much power you want to make, you may want to look at the Scat H beam rods. I think they're a little better for a power adder and I think they're only like $100 more.
The SCAT stuff is about the best of the import market....pretty consistant sizing and weight matched.
The RPM stuff is decent as well but Eagle has had some QC issues recently
Since you don't plan to spin it very high, the ARP 2000 bolts are overkill. The ARP 8740 bolts are perfectly fine at 7/16" diameter in these applications. With big power adders, you want a beefier rod with more meat around the big end and pin end bores.
Basically what I'm reading is for turbo application I might as well go with the H beam rods? I had stock ls1 with turbo and spun a rod bearings... I wanted to keep the cost down on rebuilding it but use better parts. Found the scat I beams at ws6store for $285, which seems like a really good deal if they are decent rods. Then are about $370 for ones with arp 2000 bolts.
Right now I'm going through debating on what rods and pistons I should use that won't break the bank....

If it was staying NA, the basic I beams and Mahles are perfectly fine (and what I did for my endurance build). However boost is a whole nother animal, and while this combo would certainly work better than stock (especially at low compresison levels) I would still step it up to something slightly beefier.
It will be better in the long run not to skimp out on the most important parts of the engine under boost.
