Turbo LS1 Cam Choices and Discussions
I'm looking to do a turbo build on my '99 Trans Am. I'm going for a STREETABLE beast. My question is what cam is turbo friendly along with being streetable? I was thinking of the MS3, MS4 or, the TSP Magic Stick. Any ideas? And if you can give me an explanation on which route to take I would appreciate it too.

There are lots of choices. I'd honestly recommend calling some of the vendors on here, and have them spec something for you. The MS cams have way to much overlap for what you want

You named a couple shelf cams from a vendor that offers an off the shelf blower cam... so why wouldn't you start there?
If you want something off the shelf, that will be streetable and work well with a turbo, then look no further than pretty much anyone's stage two turbo cams. That should be close to what you want, and it's a cam you can order right now and have by Wednesday of next week, if you don't want to go with a custom grind.
If you want to stay with texas speed, I would honestly look at something like the 220/220 on a 114, or maybe even the tsp 212/218 truck cam

The magic stick line of camshafts offer too much overlap for a turbo application. We would be happy to help get you pointed in the right direction on a custom camshaft for your specific build. Feel free to give us a call.
Thanks

I contacted Martin at Tick Performance. I ended up going with his Stage 1 turbo cam for my setup. Worth a shot to email him or somebody else to see if there is an off the shelf grind or a custom cam for whatever your turbo application is.

Im in the process of doing a 4.8 turbo build, so i know its about a liter short of your ls1.
I told TSP my setup and plans of t56 and an s475 and they recommended me to their off the shelf 224/228 .600 114lsa 2deg . (this being quite an aggressive cam for a 4.8 i think)
hopefully that helps.

LPE GT2-3 I have heard is not only STREETABLE, but better than the factory LS1 cam for idleability & smoothness.
I plan to run the GT2-3 with my Vortech ( or turbo if I sell my Vortech ).
I would not use the LS9 Springs with the GT2-3 though, they aren't strong enough from what I have read. Actually, I don't think they even sell those anymore as a kit at LPE.
On the super super cheap side and/or Temporary side, you could get the LS9 cam with LS9 springs from GM. ~$250 total.
Some Specs :
207/220 - .571/.578 - 118.5 CL LPE GT2-3
211/230 - .558/.552 - 122.5 CL GM LS9/ZR1 Cam
215/247 - .629/.656 - 121.0 CL LPE GT9
Don't forget to use Multi layer gaskets & some ARP head studs. I am going with LS9 gaskets & 317 heads, and whatever decent ARP's I can find.
