Your 65 skylark, what trans are you running? S60? ZF? Reason im asking, i just finished my 5.3 for my chevelle, i scored a ZF 6spd.... looking into mating the 2 real soon.

Im finishing my 5.3 in the next few weeks, its goin into a 68 chevelle, mated with a 6spd.
if your not decided on cam specs, give Cunningham Motorsports (CMS) a look.

They rock, they're on point, i woundnt use anyone else. they pieced out my motor, and speced out my cam, and pretty much whole motor. We have- yet to see numbers as we are finishing up on it. CMS says itll break 400 ez, but my Comp cams desktop dyno says itll do 510 at the crank,,,,we will see. Either way, itll be a rowdy 5.3!!!!!!

WOW 500 CRANK. already ordered a cam from Martin Smallwood. He was great to deal with, and very knowledgable.

I'm contemplating going with a 6sp manual Trans. Will a t56 out of any late 90's GM fit? Like the camaro's that had a LT1??

You need a T56 out of a LS car. The LT T56 is more trouble than it is worth to get to fit. You can do a T5, but you'll want to buy a few spares because you'll be putting them in the car more often than gas.

Can I reuse the rod bolts? They are torque to yield, manual says can be torqued max 3 times. The local dealer doesn't have any. And they are like $8 each. Ouch.

Got a whole wack of goodies. Martin Smallwood spec'd cam. Dual springs, titanium keepers. IWIS chain, chromoly pushrods, trunion upgrade, morel lifters. As well it getting new piston rings. Bearings look excellent.

Yes, big box from Summit too! More on the way! excited!

228/236 .612/.595 112+3

That looks like a well balanced, well thought out cam. I run a 227/236-112+3, and love it. Great blend of low end torque and high rpm power. It revs to 7K very easily

No not HP. said something about valve closing times to not hurt low end and whatnot.

Remember this is a 5.3, BUT it's in a 2000lb. car!

Should be a BLAST!
