Default Milling 706 Heads 228r 5.3

Hey guys, I have an 04 LM7 5.3 with 706 heads. They are not castech heads, so I am having them worked over, and I was wondering with a 228r cam, how much can I safely mill with PTV clearance issues. .030? Ideally id like to run stock head gaskets.

Sounds like a lot of duration for a 5.3.

You understand a thinner gasket gets you more compression with the same amount of ptv change?

Yes, but I figured might as well mill the heads some since they are getting worked. I don't want to go the absolute max amount of milling, just a good safe amount.

Can you share more about the application?

You understand displacement affects what duration you should use?

Looks like that cam is available on 112 or 114 which are you considering?

Can you define how the heads are being "worked over"?

The motor is in a 2wd S10, not a Daily driver, Texas Speed recommended a 112 LSA. Heads are going to our engine builder for a full port and polish. I purchased the PRC double spring kit.

I think you'll like that cam as long as you have a 3000 or so stall to match.

Stock cam appreciates more stall than that.

I think that can will do ok in a S10. If it were a heavier vehicle, it would be a problem. What rear gear will you run? You will probably want a 3.73 or 4.11 with that set up

Which 10bolt? Depending on package most were 7.5" garbage but some were 8.5" but I think that might have been just the offroad package. The 8.5" will handle 9s in the quarter.

It's actually a 7 5/8s. Had a gov-bomb in it, but now has a locker.

Whomever came up with the govloc needs a kick in the sack, think it was the same guy who thought socks should be shoe size 6-12.

Address the suspension, don't let it wheelhop.
