Default Cams: Vengeance VR5 vs. BTR Stg 4

Going for a max effort cam, liking the feedback and numbers from the BTR Stage 4 but my local porter w/ a highly modified C5 Z is telling me the VR5 is where its at. Would love to here some experiences w/ either cam. Which one makes more power?

I am a bit biased, however if you're looking for max-effort with the converter and gear listed in your sig, I would honestly look at our Vinidicator camshaft. This is a 240/244 .605/.596 112+4 which works extremely well with a 4,000 RPM torque converter and will make more power than either cam you mentioned above 4,000 RPM.

I absolutely love my btr stage 4. It performs very well at lower rpms for a large cam and pulls hard to 7k.

BTR Stage 4 is pretty much what I have... it's a good cam. Power everywhere. But below say 1800 RPM, it's noticeable. I have it where I can drive in traffic without much issue, but I still wanted a little bit less cam... so I talked to Brian and went with his 227/244 115+5 because I wanted a much more streetable cam and a Supercharger.

I don't know what your goals are, but after having a cam with 16 degrees of overlap for the last 2 years with a big stall and a loud exhaust... I'm going for a more livable setup that's much faster. The difference in the new cam and the BTR Stage 4 for me is probably 10-15HP on the big end with a lot more low-end and midrange out of the new cam. So even NA, it's probably about as fast... but will work much better with FI or Nitrous.

So I'd really advocate for some kind of power adder. A big cam only gets you so far... And for me, it wasn't worth dealing with it.

Thanks for the input guys, after doing some more research I think im sold on the Vindicator Cam. I do plan to supercharge but that's a ways down the road after a good set of heads. No plans for the car as far as any kind of racing goes, grew out of that. Its just a nice weather weekend car.

You can't go wrong with either of them to be honest. There are plenty of thread on here with happy Vengeance Racing and Brian Tooley customers using their respective cams.

Both great camshafts for sure. Don't rule out the TSP camshafts as well. The MS4 is a great camshaft with the updated TSP lobes has been proven to make some killer power!
