What's best Cam only: FM13, TSP 231/237, or G5X3?
I have an A4 and want to shoot for 10s cam only. I've been researching these 3 cams and they look like the best right now. As for the car, it's a full bolt on car on a stock LS1 intake and no tune. It's going 11.8s on chrome Zr1s and I plan on doing the following with the cam:
Bogart D10s w/ ET Streets
LSX 90mm manifold and TB
Tuning
Do you think 10s are possible?
Which cam will do it best without heads, or do I need heads?
Thanks.

Sure about that? Heads maybe, but no poweradders. There are a few guys running 10s cam only. Yee of little faith. What do you guys think. Raceweight is 3255 on heavy ZR1s.

Cam Only
Don't get the FM13.. Get the same cam as me.
236/239 .601/.610 111lsa
I guess you could call it an FM15? It made 419rwhp through my 12 bolt. With a big stall on a stock rear I'd suspect it'd make well over 400 to the rear.
I have no doubts it'd run 10's on a 3200-3300lb raceweight. I'll know what it runs on a 3500lb raceweight next weekend
I have no doubts it'd make similar power to G5X-3 and T-Rex cam in the same environment. Plus it has incredibly good drivability. I have a video I made of me cruising at 1400-1500rpm with no surge.. and it pulling smoothly.
When/if you call, ask Candy about the Ron Jeremy cam hehe. Its a little joke we got going on.
Peace,
Josh

Is the F13 not a good cam? I've read great things. The only thing is that I want to do it cam only with the option of doing heads in the future if it doesn't work out. The G5x3 is great cam only, but requires custom head work with ported heads I believe. What do you think?

On a 110-111 lsa and A4, it is the tune that is going to make the difference.
Big stall of course and a shitload of suspension mods to hook it all up. I also think more weight loss is necessary without heads.JMO

FM13 is a sweet cam. But the Futral Cam I got is a little bit bigger, and more optimized for stock heads. In other words.. you'd be hardpressed to run aftermarket heads on it without getting the pistons flycut. Although there is a good bit of room left according to the Futral guys for safety.. I'd get Allan(sp?) to do the tuning. He worked hard on mine, and its damn near stock drivability. I would think the tune would make or break an a4's drivability. Believe it or not, my cam peaks soon enough that I can shift at 6800 without giving up anything. Alot of guys are spinning their combos up to 7k these days running the 114's and what not. I don't think you'll have any problems with the 111lsa. I'd give them a call though to doublecheck what he suggests. They'll be back in town from North Vs. South on Monday.

Josh

Theres always the option of adding a 100 shot on there after the cam -- pretty sure that would put you in the 10's, but then again, I don't yet have a cam or n20, so I could be wrong...

The G5X3 and the larger FMS cams always seem to outdyno the 231/237, but track times are a different animal.
And don't forget TRex.
TSP also has their magistick too.
But! Bigger doesn't always mean faster.

When I say there is a big difference between 11.50 all motor and 10.90 all motor I mean there is a BIG DIFFERENCE.
I would say you will need a 4200 stall and cut 1.50 60 ft's to even get close.
W/O shaving weight I am gonna say there is very little chance of a 10 sec pass all motor being cam only.
If your race weight is only 3255 you are only helping yourself in your goal.
The is a ton of weight savings. Are you sure this is accurate?
Either you have a lot of time in taking weight out or you only weigh 50 lbs yourself.
Damn that means your car weight less then 3100 lbs that is great.
I also believe you will need to dich the ZR1's and get a full slick b/c you simply will not hook if your making good torque and running a 4000+ stall.
I thing your goal is achieveable but here is my suggestion.
First get a 4000+ stall from Yank or TCI.
Then get one of the cams you are interested in. (G5X3 fan myself)
Then get some slicks and skinny's.
Most importantly get a great tune and launch you ride hard after a fat burnout.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey SoFL02SS,
Have you run at Moroso yet? How did you run?
Just wondering cause I have the G5X3. Trying to work out some wheel hop issues as well as having no rollbar prevents me from going all out.
