Oil Filter w/Extra Capacity
I am looking to see if there is an option for an extra capacity oil filter for the LS1 like there is for the LT1. Anyone out there know if there is such a thing?
Thanks for your input and advice.

BUT... please note that with the truck filter it will hang down below your oil pan. I considered doing the same thing but having that thin stamped metal can vulnerable to a rock or speed bump scared me into using a standard filter (I always use a Wix).

Yikes! This is good to know. The on I ran on my LT1 was about even with the bottom of the oil pan.
I also use Wix filters on everything.
i just always cross for a cadillac deville 4.6 or the trail blazer. I run nothing but amsoil, it barely goes past the oil pan. There are many things that are below the oil pan so if u hit ur oil pan then you are going to have way more problems than just an oil pan and filter.

The Long Truck filter
AC Delco PF61E
Wix 51522 or Napa Gold 1522
The Short Truck filter
AC Delco PF46E
WIX 51042 or Napa Gold 1042
As others have mentioned those can be cross referenced to other brands...

Its WIX 51522
Trust me you don't have to worry about it being "too low." You're damn K member is lower than the filter, as is your exhaust. It's below the pan MAYBE an inch. Ran one for over 3 years daily driven, interstate, neighborhood speed bumps, you name it.

Have run both the WIX and the ACDelco truck filters. Great options for the car. Only two I'd run. The "E" series AC Delco filters look almost like the Wix filters. Wix/NAPA are the best however. I just had used my last Wix up when I was troubleshooting my car and determined I needed to change the oil. Not wanting to drive forever to NAPA or wait on Amazon for Wix, I just picked up the ACDelco at AutoZone for $4.

I always get a case of 12 when they're on sale so I don't have this problem. While it seem like a lot to pay up front, the cost ends up at less than $4 a filter.
You may see a flyer in the store for the monthly special when they do. They do not announce it ahead of time even to the staff. Even though I no longer work at a shop, They have my name and Cell number on there list of shops they call when they do the filter Promo. In my Area the sales men, or in this case sales women does this on her own to generate the extra income. People from shops don't come in as often since they get deliveries and do not always know what's on special.
O'reilly's caries the Wix behind the counter, but you have to ask because of the price difference. They don't want people putting the good filter in the cheap box.
When in doubt, I use the Ac Delco's since there sold at Walmart and that's where I buy my oil since they have the best price! If Put my old oil back in the bulk container, they have an area I can drop it off and leave it for them to dump. Unlike some of the auto parts stores that run out of room and make you come back. Or like my local Napa that does not have a waist tank.
Sorry for the rant. I hope some of the info was helpful.
