Default Sealing rocker bolt hole on ported heads?

What are you guys using to seal the rocker arm hole on the ported heads. I've seen loctite and black RVT. If loctite, blue medium stregth or red high stregth? Which one actually works better at sealing and keeping the oil out of the combustion chamber? Thanks!

John

2xLS1,
I really appreciate you answering all my questions! Everything I've posted so far you posted up. You recommend the paste or tape?

I've used black RTV, teflon paste, and some black non hardening "gasket sealer". All of them have worked great, the RTV seemed to be the easiest to clean off the threads if you are ever going to pull the rockers again. I would be afraid to use locktite on them, it would really suck to round the head off one of those rocker bolts or break it off in the head.

I can tell you from experience it does suck. It was the back one on the drivers side. Took like 2+ hours to cut and grind that rocker + bolt down. I cannot see how anyone breaks these rockers. They are tough *******.

I use Permatex #80632, Thread Sealant with Teflon, not plumbers tape.

I would use Loctite 222 low strength threadlocker or Loctite 567 thread sealant. Both will allow easy removal and completely seal the threads.

RTV reacts with petroleum so I would not recommend this. Thread tape can string and cause problems if stuck on the intake valve seal (not sure if this would be an issue)

Permatrex thread sealant here also. Heads have been on for 2K miles now with no oil consumption problems.
