Default Yes, another Push Rod Length ?.

Ok, here is the deal, I have an LQ4, went from 317 heads to stock 799 heads, new LS7 Lifters, and a Elgine cam. The base circle of the stock cam is 1.551, and the new cam is 1.467.
Will 7.4 length push rods be correct?

Thanks.

Buy a pushrod length checker and don't guess.

Ok, I bought a gauge, checked both sides, one cylinder per side. Had 10 turns out, 0.500" plus 6.800 plus 0.050" pre-load, equals 7.350" stock push rod length, was not expecting that!!!
Does this sound correct?

Are you running aftermarket rocker arms?

I know some roller rockers sit closer to the head, requiring a shorter pushrod. We can rule that out.

Did you check it doing the EO/IC method?

I will double check again, to make sure. I'm concerned on the numbers, don't make since.

Thanks.

I find it a little strange as well, but 7.350 it is, then. Can't argue with the facts.

That's why we measure, instead of "assuming" or even "guessing".

I would run more than .050" preload on Ls7 lifters

How much would or should run? I might be a little more then 0.05" but not much.
Don't push rods only come in 0.05" increments?

if you measured correctly I would get 7.375.
With Ls7 lifters they seem to have the least amount of valve train noise at around .075" preload

Are the LS7 lifters the same height of LQ4/9 lifters?

Thanks.

That is very helpful since I just purchased some LS7 lifters! Thanks for the tip!
