Best thing to do is get a length checker and measure.

I was mainly wondering if someone has already used these and did the measuring thing....I did not know that the 6504 replaced the 5312....so all new to me

I have an older set of Morel lifters, don't know part number but they were taller and required a shorter pushrod for that reason. Mine were designed for higher lift to prevent oiling issues that can occur with the stock GM lifters.

I would measure.

Actual measurement is always better than someones educated guess.

Knowing sj the little I do i'm sure he planned to measure all along, I'm sure he just wanted some sort of answer while waiting for emails and the length checker.

I'm curious what you find man, post up when you figure it out.

How much preload with the 7.4? I ran mine at 0.030 originally and they were noisy on cold start. At 0.050 they are real quiet.

since they told me 50 - 60 preload....i split it to 55

i went and got some comp cams 7638-16 from summit....their new store is 30 mins from me ! ( have to save up for those nice taper ones like you got nuts )

measured them all and 15 of them are 7.410 to 7.415....one odd ball at 7.420

engine wont be running til next summer

If you are measuring with a caliper, they will be longer than the 7.400" because the stamped length is the pushrod gauge length and you are measuring overall length.

I knew advertised length was not the same as measured length......but i thought advertised length was shorter ....not longer

so i really did get close to my 7.415 that i measured and need....off to summit to exchange that odd ball size one

better to have to short than to long ?
