Default Max Effort LS1 cam recommendation

Hi fellas, looking for some A level cam ideas for my car. Current setup is TEA 2.5 243's. 234/242 cam, mamo fast 102. I have Tony porting a MSD for me right now and that will be going on soon. Thinking of stepping up the cam a bit to carry the rpm's and power out to more match the MSD. No SR cams only hydraulic. I have plenty of ptv clearance. This is max effort 1/4 mile car. Shifting now around 7300 but will move up to 74-7500 with new intake. I am def going with intake still pondering the cam swap and if it is worth it. THX

Out of curiosity, can you give details on the car and time slips?

I don't think it would be worth the time and money to change that cam

OK, I wouldn't go too much bigger than you are, and it'll be up to you if this is worth it or not, but here's my thoughts...

237/245-112+2

That'll delay your IVC by 2.5 degrees and support higher RPM power. it'll open your exhaust valve 2.5 degrees earlier, which will also help support RPM. Adds 1 degree overlap, so it should carry past peak pretty well. SHouldn't change driving manners too much. WILL be a little soggier off idle up to about 3500 RPM

I like those specs Darth. I would guess with the new cam and intake a bump in power around 6-6500 and up. Maybe 15-25hp I have a 4400 stall so no worries about low end power loss

Pretty much my thoughts. You'll get your power increase by moving the peak higher in the RPM band. IDK what your intake is, but you'll def benefit from shorter runners if they aren't already short.

I have -4cc manley pistons so PLENTY of clearance. I'd like to have some dome pistons. Could probably make a decent amount more power

Thanks for that link. I like Darth's idea of just tweaking the cam specs I have now. It works really well just a few changes to match the intake should work well

So a good fella on here has offered to lend me a big ole cam (for an ls1) It has similar specs to the T rex cam of old. 242/248 111+2 621/615 on the lift. Should be a monster in there! Hopefully there is some quicker et's in the near future.

We have the T Rex cam now on better lobes also. Its on a 110 but we can have one cut on a 112-113.

I think it will be. I'll post a data log but the car shifts around 7300 right now and drops to around 62-6300. If I raise the shift point to 7500 it should drop to 64-6500 on the shifts. Will be in the wheel house for the msd intake and the big ole cam 95% of the run. Gonna be somewhat of an experiment tho since my current combo has been hard to beat

I make 473/416 with a polluter v2 cam, overdrive blower crank pulley, full accessories, FAST 92 with a stock TB and ls7 clutch setup.
