Default Sac City Corvette oil bypass plug install in pics

I wanted to do a vid ....but had to settle for pics

what you need

bypass plug ( very important )
1/2 inch allen wrench
Vaseline
10mm socket and rachet ( or wrench )
new gasket for outer cover

2 bolts hold the outer cover on....remove

1/2 inch allen fits in the oil filter threaded insert

hint....they used red loctite at the factory.....best to remove while still on car

look down the hole where the cover was and you can see the other end of the factory bypass plug

at the bottom there is just a hair of room to get a small screwdriver under it.....use the screwdriver to pry the plug up n out

puts some Vaseline on the O ring of the sac city corvette plug....it installs easier that way....and just push it in

dont forget to use a new gasket on the outer cover.....potential oil leak there !!!

Hope I'm not misunderstanding this whole thing! Isn't the idea of this plug to eliminate the oem oil bypass? That's what I meant by "Since the oil filter can no longer be bypassed with this plug".

The oem oil bypass opens when there is too much pressure across the filter medium (like cold startup when the oil is thick, or when the filter becomes too dirty). So although sending unfiltered/dirty oil through the engine is bad, I'm guessing too much pressure in the filter could be worse as they can only contain so many psi before they fail.

So I was just wondering if you delete your bypass valve (with the plug), can you still use the same oil filter you always did? And should it be changed more often?

Maybe I'm overthinking this. If so, please let me know. I'll just order one instead

Hi computerz,
I think I see what you mean now. Pretty much all the good quality filters have a bypass built into them should it get plugged up for some reason. Generally anyone installing one of our Bypass deletes or Billet Barbells is doing so because they don't want unfiltered oil going through their engine bearings & lifters. Those people keep their oil and filter clean and don't need to worry about the filter getting plugged. When the oil is cold it will still flow through the filter and again, the guys running these products aren't revving and being hard on their cold engines. We recommend running a good quality filter with or without these upgrades.
