Default Bolt on Camaro cam suggestions

Hi guys I have a 98 Camaro I bought it all stock it currently has 60k on it I have added all bolt ons including one and 7/8 headers y pipe gmmg cat back, fast 92intake and tb, underdrive pully built 4l60e with yank ss4000 an 3.73 gears.

. I am inexperienced with internals on this car but to get down to it I am looking for the biggest cam I can go for the most power torque and sound the nastiest lol

I have seen Texas Speed offers Cam Kit for about 700 bucks and of course I am trying to keep the cost low so what do you guys recommend..????. This is a weekend toy car only I would like to do the strip once or twice a year and just have fun on the street

You do realize that the biggest cam might not make you as fast as a smaller one right?

I'd call places like TSP and Cam Motion. They will get into better detail and get you what you want. You will get varying opinions on here as what cam is best. With that said I'd personally shoot for something like a high 220's on the intake side and low to mid 230's on the exhaust side, with around a 112 LSA. I think you'll find the best overall cam for your setup will be in this general area

Texas Speed is recommending either the V4 or the tsunami camshaft they are telling me the tsunami may make another 3 or 4 HP and kicks in 120 RPM later then the V4

I'm surprised they are recommending a cam that big considering that you're running the stock heads. Those two cams will make a few more hp up top but will suffer a tad everywhere else. All things being equal i don't think you'd be any faster with those cams, but they will sound a little more aggressive. If you had better flowing heads I'd say sure, but since you don't these bigger cams won't necessarily make you any faster, and in fact can sometimes make you a little slower. That's just my personal opinion. No wrong answer here, just personal preference

Yeah good tuning with the right stall will help a lot, but the fact still remains that these cams are a bit big for a stock head LS1, and will not necessarily be any faster than a smaller cam setup. I've seen this happen many times before. I'm not saying that will definitely happen in your case, but it is very possible

Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about. In my case compared to yours I have more cubes, more compression, better flowing heads, Fast intake, 4.10 gear, and I run a cam very similar to the BTR stage 4 or Tsunami cam. Even with my setup I would not want something much bigger at all. Just something to think about

Honestly like hci2000 is saying a smaller mid range cam is probably better for your situation like our High Lift ASA cam. Itll have a very aggressive idle and lots of mi range and top end, perfect for your setup but not the biggest bump stick you can shove in there that would be like a light switch.
Our cam kit is $580 with cam, springs, and pushrods!

Not that you haven't gotten very good advice so far, but I would definitely give Cam Motion a call as well. Its always good to have multiple opinions... On a side note, I am a huge fan of the WS6 Store. That new high lift ASA cam looks like a great option lately, along with an amazing package price. Remember , your in the driver's seat. Lay it all out for them regarding the present and future needs.

Id expect no less than 400 with 98 806 heads. Some 243s should be in the 430 440 range.
