Cam: TSP 228/232 on stock intake & heads?
New member here, been finding answers on this site for years, but I've got one that I can't seem to find a clear answer to in the archives about the TSP 228/232 112 LSA cam.
I've got a 2000 TA WS6, a4 3.23 gears, stock ls1 intake, stock 853 heads, headers, y-pipe, lid. I currently daily drive the car, more because I want to, rather than have to, but I'd still like to be able to daily drive it after the cam swap if I want. It will pretty much exclusively be driven on the street, so I'm really aiming for usable low end power.
I contacted tsp about a cam suggestion, and they recommended a 228/232 112 LSA. I was curious if anyone out there is running this cam with a stock intake and heads? I plan on going with a 3200 stall, and may end up swapping the intake before I'm done, but currently I'm still on the fence about it.
I'm really just curious as to whether this cam has been used by other people in a setup that's similar to mine, and if anyone has any wisdom/feedback they would share from their experience with it. I think I would be a lot more comfortable with the cam if it didn't seem like it was so hard to find much feedback, or information, about it online.
Any knowledge on the subject is appreciated.
Thanks

I have this cam.... It is easily daily driver material with a nasty sound for such a small cam. I unfortunately absolutely wish I went bigger now, hind sight is 20/20... however, on my setup (similar to yours) it made 425rwhp and 402 rwtq and as stated street manners are damn near stock.
my setup was: stock lq4, ls6 intake, 243 heads, 4l60e w/ 3500 precision stall, and Strange Dana s60 rear end. I have changed some things since, with the FAST 92 combo it seems to make significantly more power above 5000rpm than before, but I digress.
Bottom line - if your looking for tire smoking stop light to stop light power out of a stock ls1 with daily driver capabilities, a really nasty idle sound, and you don't need to squeeze every single pony you can out of your motor because you don't plan on competitively racing.... THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CAM CHOICE. That was my original plan and I've gone from that to searching for a mid 9 second pass on this cam, so I now wish I went bigger....Just my 2 cents from experience...hope it helps.

He's correct.... I went with ls2 chain, my heads had valve springs already installed, and 7.400 TSP chromoly pushrods.

So you guys are saying, with a stock ls1, ls6 intake, headers it should put close to 400 rwhp?
What exhaust are you running? Allblackout has dual 3” turn downs it seemed from the video
Will a single 3” out the back make close to 400 rwhp or would you have to go duals?
I was considering a tsp 224 or 228 cam to get close to 400 rwhp and it seems doable.
What’s your rpm shift point with this cam?
Anyone running a t56 with this cam with stick 3.42s?
