They were hooking pretty good when da was over 1000 feet but they get nasty now. I'm really enjoying the car finally and no rush to work on finishing my projects. I have all the stuff to move the battery to the back so that my air conditioning accumulator can mount where stock battery goes. My vacuum pump required me to relocate the accumulator.
After that I'll eventually either change the exhaust for 3" speed engineering dual exhaust or put electric cutouts on this exhaust. Both sound really good but my exhaust system is costing me as much as 31hp in mid range. I can only imagine how this thing will pull with no restrictions.
Im looking at the Granatelli motorsports electric cutouts. Anyone here have experience with them? Looks to be good value.

If I stay with my exhaust, it's so good sounding both in and out of car. No drone or any resonance sound in car anywhere. Also might be good for traction on slick surfaces to lose that 31hp when I need to.
Cutouts also give every thing the motor wants where 3" duals still may have a small amount of restrictions out back. I've heard the speed engineering has some resonance at part throttle. Has an amazing idle sound though, better cam hit than my bassani.

As strong as this thing feels and I haven't even felt it with the exhaust unrestricted, I still keep finding my self wanting after market heads and maybe more cam. Why I don't know, i'm sure I'll surpass my goal from the start of low 10's.

Hp is a drug and im an addict. 😂🤣
I'm using an ebay china 4" electric cut out and it has been good better than I expected. It doesn't seal 100% but it barely leaks. I've read that if you run a bead of hi temp silicone sealer around the butterfly and let it set, the cut out will seal 100%.

I will get a pic of my exhaust next time I can. I have 3" y-pipe merging into single 4" and going under the rear axle (yes, it works, with the pipe flattened a little either side) and then into the 4" cut out, and I orientated the cut out so the straight through part goes direct to a 4" pipe dumping at the rear bumper, and the Y side of the cut out I ran a 2.5" pipe under fuel tank across to the other side, thermo wrapped it, and into a small 2.5" muffler dumping at rear bumper, and it is well hidden. From the back of my car you can only see the 4" dump pipe. When I'm cruising I switch the cut out so it blocks the straight through 4" side, and exhaust pumps through the crossover 2.5" with muffler and it is decently quiet. Hit the cut out switch and it's a straight through 4" exhaust all the way, no muffs. Sounds very strong but nowhere near open header loud. And it probably wouldn't be more than 1 tenth slower in the 1/4 than open headers. (i haven't track tested it yet)

This is the cut out (old pic I took before i fitted it)

I've read about the bead of silicon but haven't seen any actual pictures of how they done it. So on the blade or around where blade seals?

Just imagine how much less traction you'll have with unrestricted exhaust

From memory I think around where the blade seals but mine doesn't leak enough for me to have bothered trying it.

Yep. Night/day difference . 1st gear will all of a sudden be on ice with unrestricted exhaust if he's running street tires. I know mine was. He is going to need bias ply hoosier qtp's lol

Not such a problem now with these 325x45x17 m&h drag radials😁

Lol. I just put those on for daily driving. Street tires are not safe. No driving in the rain.

They must hook decent. I'd love to try some M&H drag radials so I can corner again like a proper street car (the bias ply are iffy) but at $800 a pair here for M&H radials i'll wait until my qtp's are worn down which is surprisingly taking a while! I thought they'd chew down in no time but they don't.

Yeah bias definitely feel floaty. But better than going sideways on the highway

No I wouldn't even think about attempting to drive with qtp's in wet weather. They're a brilliant straight line dry weather only street tire.lol

To be fair they can corner, I'm just afraid of cornering too hard in mine because when I do the sidewalls flex so much they scrape my tubs and lca's. If I buy qtp's again I think i'll get a size smaller.

And somehow you get used to the floaty ride. Like your brain starts to just auto-correct the steering wheel after a certain point of cruising and you start to forget they are bias ply tires. And in a WOT run you don't even think about it at all, you're so focused on the road and the tach on gear changes. Mine is very stable wot at the end of the speedo. Some people say their cars move around too much on the top end with bias ply. Not a 4th gen with a spool out back.

Yes totally. I feel very safe with the qtp's as the car can never lose traction enough to be dangerous (in dry weather). They just hook too good.

If you are already spinning in 1st now, uncorking the exhaust will surprise you. I have no idea how those M&H radials hook compared to a bias ply 15" diameter tire, I'm yet to try drag radials on my car. But my 295/50 street tires were dangerous after I uncorked my exhaust and that's only a cam only ls1 with 4k stall. I all of a sudden hated the car due to lack of traction to the point I mini tubbed it and bought bias ply qtp's. The qtp's can dead hook on the street when warm but sometimes you think let me put a radial back on the car so it feels and looks more like a proper daily driver again (even thought it's not a daily driver) and then you can't look past how the qtp's are glued to the road (dry weather of course) and you feel very safe in that way. It's a bitter sweet thing. I always end up deciding to stick with the qtp's and just take the straight line traction over anything else.

I can leave with barely peddling the throttle with a 5200 flash converter on these , not sure I'd improve with qtp.
My tires did rub though with my kids in back seat so when these wear down, I'm going down in size

If all goes well I'll be at the track Sunday. Supposed to be good air and during the day so no dew on the track to stop it early.

About half way finished battery relocation. Had to relocate my catch can down under head lights so it wasnt in the way of where I wanted my power distribution block. That's all done and cables hooked up to it.
Tomorrow evening I am running the cable from alternator to cut off switch then mount battery. Maybe 2 hours of work I guess. Daughter is having her wisdom teeth pulled and it's a touchy surgery where the nerve is. So depending on how that goes whether I get to spend much time on it.

Thanks man. Dr was pretty concerned about 1 on right side growing in to the nerve. It's a pretty tricky one and possibility of face paralysis. Just praying for it to be ok. Thanks again
