Well I have a 01 SS that is all stock. I just wanna know what the best things to do first is? Im not gonna boost it im gonna spray it eventually.. I know its gonna need exhaust and people tell me to put a converter in it(I don't know what size) and then I was gonna get it tuned. Later down the road im gonna put heads, cam, and nitrous( I already have the nitrous kit) Ive been out of the loop for about 10-15 years so I don't know what the best thing to do first is. It does have drag radials on it now but motor is all stock.

Well since you are going from bone stock to totally modified, I'd call some of the vendors on here. They can get into great detail over the phone, whereas on here it's more difficult. From exhaust, to heads, to cams, to intakes, to nitrous, to other bolt ons, to valvetrain, to tuning, etc, etc...there are dozens possibilities within each of these categories. And let's not forget suspension and rear support as well. It's all in how much you wanna spend

Transmission and rearend should be the first upgrades. Dana 60 is probably the strongest rearend option, Ford 9" is 2nd, and GM 12bolt is last. Don't try to upgrade the stock 10 bolt. If you throw more torque at a 10 bolt, you will have a rearend with a lot of pieces in it pretty soon. And, blowing your rearend can cause transmission damage too. Headers, cam, and 90mm intake blew up my 10bolt, which took out my transmissino too.

You also have a manual, autos are a lot easier on the rears.

For the OP, 1-7/8" headers, full exhaust, air lid, and a ram air kit is a good place to start. If I could start from scratch I would have gone with a 3.5" or 4" outlet on the Y-pipe, or TD's out the back. Cam choice is dependent on your goals with the car an how much nitrous you plan to use. Heads are very budget dependent, best you can afford and I would say the same for the intake.

With an auto a 10 bolt would live behind that just fine.
