Default 862s with 3 angle vj vs stock 241s

I was planning on a full h/c/i with prc 225s, but had other priorities come up so am looking into just going cam and intake (fast 90/warr 92tb)for now and keeping the stock 241s untouched. I see some 862 heads with a 3 angle valve job and almost new spring package rated to .600 lift for a good price on craigslist. Would I pick anything up with something like that over the stock heads? Even 10rwhp? I'm not looking into getting any porting done either way.

Depends on the valvejob, but you should see a gain just from the compression alone.

You'd pick up some compression with the 862s... and if the VJ is good, that's where most of the power is picked up actually. So you could see 20rwhp from the added compression and VJ. If the VJ is bad.. it could ruin the head. So, there's that.

I'm assuming they put in a 2.00" intake valve when they did the valve job, right?

I'll find that out from them. Should I pass if stock sized valves still?

Yeah, I think you might find any gains from the increase in compression is diminished with the stock 1.89" intake valve.

They are 2.0/1.55 valves so that is good.
