didn’t think of that. I’ll look when I get home. I’m having my (just turned 16) kid drive me around today running errands. Gotta get a blasting hood so I can sand blast my hot side and ceramic coat it all. He just pulled right out in front of someone as I was typing this. Wish me luck on surviving lol. You guys should see this kids truck we got him. I’m jealous. I didn’t have anything like this when I was 16.

Man, ****! Got a problem. Torqued one of the heads on and saw something I never noticed. Flock! Look where the rocker contacts.

just one. These valves were used with an unknown history. I have a new set of ferrea exhaust valves. I Originally was gonna change all the valves. Ole lady bought the exhausts for my birthday. Looks like I’m just gonna change em all. I’ll order some intakes as soon as this seller on eBay gets back to me. In the mean time I’m in the shop replacing all the exhaust valves. Reshaping the face edge and lapping them in. I’m also polishing the tips of all my rockers and replacing the ones that look suspect. I like the Che kit how I can just pull them apart and swap them to another rocker.

heres what I do to the face edge of the exhaust valves. Picks up 8-10 cfm in most lift ranges. I flow tested this a while back. It’s really hard to pic up in picture. But the edge is rounded in a way that the exhaust flows around the valve easier.

Cutting extra area off an exhaust valve is no a good idea. Thats the only surface basically that the valve removes heat with.
Plus making the margin thinner can increase a chance of warping or hot spots/burning. Id be careful there.

ok thx. This definitely isn’t the first time I’ve done this. By far. Never had an issue. The exhaust valves that came out of the heads, I did like that. And not to mention my buddy who builds ls engines for a living, showed me some higher end valves that had this detail on the valves already. And rounding the edge off eliminates a potential hot spot that can/will turn red hot. I appreciate your concern though.

Guys. I need to order a set of intake valves. Been running stock ones. I want some at least as good as stock. I found some Powell machine intake valves on eBay for $89 shipped. They look like ferrea knock offs and are stainless. Any one use cheap valves? Any other recommendations? I gotta order something today or tomorrow.

they have Manley valves at ws6 store for $129 and rpm speed(?) for $99. However. I need them FOR SURE by this weekend. I’ve never got anything from them in less than a week, week and a half. I messaged him to see if he could make sure I get them by the weekend. If not I’m gonna go another route.

I meant to put rpm speed (name brand) valves. Not two different websites. Their name valves are $99 which look like good valves. I’d buy em if they can get them to me by the weekend. I haven’t heard back from him yet. I’m getting ready to get the ones off ebay (probably the same valves) from Powell machine for $89 shipped and he’s gonna Usps priority to me and ship tomorrow.

Should I be concerned? Look how the holes don’t line up with the water passage! Yes the gasket is on the correct side and the correct orientation. I double checked. My ls9 gaskets, the holes line up. Wtf? Should I drill them in the correct spot?
