Lq9 swap Let me start this by saying that I have very little experience building engines. This is all going to be a learning experience for me. I am thinking about swapping a lq9 into my camaro. I would like to make 500rwhp. Im currently looking at building a 408 stroker to achieve this goal. I am looking at the texas speed 408 stroker kit and potentially their texas giant camshaft. I plan on putting some ported ls3 heads on it with a holley hi ram intake. I haven't really started looking at the more minor things yet, I just want to get the basics down. Like I said I have very limited engine building experience so if this isnt a decent setup please let me know. Any advice would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Where are you wanting to make the power? I’d review cam options with some of the well known vendors and also get their opinions on LS3 intake vs the high ram. This is in a 4th gen right? You may need to cut your cowl if going with the high ram intake. Are you planing on forced induction in the future? If just 500 hp is the goal, why not go 402 and just a 4” crank? The stock rods and pistons are good for just 500hp.

Im not super picky about where it makes peak power. Okay. It will be going on a 2000 z28. I have no current plans for forced induction. If the stock internals will work for 500 horsepower then I will probably go 402. Like I said im trying to figure all this out as this will be my first time doing anything like this.
