just finished putting a cam in my 5.3 today, and it started right up first try. idled great for about 5min and i shut it down to fix a coolant hose. went to start it back up and it would crank but no start. im completely stumped, here's all i've checked.
getting good spark
good fuel pressure
good compression
crank sensor is reading rpms
check all my connections and found nothing disconnected
also has new cam sensor

so you have fuel, spark, and compression..... but it wont run...... is it super rich?

yea it did seem rich when i pulled the plugs, dried everything out when i was checking compression and still wouldn't start after

What kind of vehicle are you working on? Did you swap a 5.3 into something or is it a pickup/tahoe?

What did you do to verify

1) spark
2) Fuel pressure
3) compression

Please post the details of the tests you did. Without any CELs, and if you have all those things, I don't understand why the motor wouldn't start.

Update- got it running this afternoon. Kinda feel stupid for doing this. Copied wrong injector tables into hptuners for my new injectors causing it to flood everytime i cranked it. Runs good now, just gotta get the tune dialed in.

Thanks for updating the thread. Most threads here never get an update and therefore folks looking for answers can’t find one. Might want to throw a new set of plugs in it now if they look fuel fouled.
