Didn't want the weight of a turbo on the nose of my sports car, which is already plenty fast enough. But you have a valid point. I had a turbo in my Datsun 510 back in the mid 80s, it was a nice way to make power.

Why do some guys ALWAYS have to bring in turbos and/or blowers into a cam thread???
I like turbos and blowers but they DON'T need to be inserted into a Vendors thread
about NA Cams Testing info.

And also dudes that come in and bring up stuff like "Huehuehue my car makes zero noise and I smoke everyone that has a loud cam therefore I am superior" Like dude nobody cares. Let me introduce you to F1, they will clean your clock faster than you can blink while being loud as hell too. There is always going to be someone faster than you. Imagine thinking you were hot **** cause you beat someone NA whilst you had a turbo. Wow congrats dude you really showed him! Not even in the same class! That is like a 6'4" dude rolling up to the shortest guy in the world and knocking him out in one punch. Boy y'all must be fun at parties

This camshaft just plain works. It is a great camshaft for the SBE, weekend warrior who wants to go racing with his junkyard or rebuilt stock bottom end LS engine. While it was designed for single plane manifolds, this cam also works very good with long runner plastic intakes.

How about even more RPM? That is what you get with rectangle port heads on a 364" LS....

A few things about this comparison. First this camshaft actually gains more effective torque than the headlines indicate. This is due to the odd little surge in torque with the stock LS3 cam 5700 RPM. Also, I may just end up changing the intake duration from 229 to 230 on this camshaft. And, not because the cam needs it. Because guys just want to see 230 degrees or larger on a weekend race camshaft. However, with a 7200 RPM peak and an easy carry to 7500 RPM, the existing spec are pretty damn impressive for a camshaft that most often ends up in a stock bottom end engine.

Not Mike but in my opinion it would have been nicer to see each cam with the same heads. So for example the first one you posted you used the 706 heads, well the next cam you posted should have been the same heads and the same LS1 baseline. I think this would have been much easier to see the differences. Especially since the ls1 and ls3 are different cube sizes topped off with the fact you used an engine that is neither 5.7 nor 6.2 it just makes it a strange dynamic.

i guess i miss understood the test data looking on my phone vs actual computer. i seen where you used the Rec port heads with the titan 3. but it makes sense now, if that cam is designed to work with the ls3 platform. thanks for the reply !

Good info here, funnily enough I was just looking at cams on your site, but I'm not educated enough to really know what I need/ want in a cam. At least now i can see that huge gains are possible without sounding like a top fueler. Now I just need to save up my pennies.

At Cam Motion, we make a lot of specialty cams. One of the most popular is our HotRod cam. This camshaft is really popular with guys retrofitting LS engines into older cars. In a 6 liter engine, it is an extremely versatile cam with a choppy idle and great midrange power. It is also a great little race cam in a 5.3 liter engine.

Next up, Little Chopper. This torque little monster was built for sound, but from 3000 to 5000 RPM, it pretty much out torques anything when used with cathedral heads. It is popular in HotRods and Off-Road 4x4s with a 3000 stall.
Note: The GM OEM #12561721 cam used for comparison was cam in the LQ9 and certain years of the LS1. I think 2000 to 2003?

This cam is a big seller with the truck crowd. We were constantly getting call from guys wanting a truck cam with big low speed torque in engines equipped with cathedral port heads, but also has a lopey idle. This camshaft out-torques the little chopper below 3800 RPM substantially. If you have a truck with rectangle port heads, stick to our Titan 1 Truck cam to get good low speed torque.
