Only 380rwhp with a G5X3?
My buddy has a 99 Formula WS6. It has around 70K on it. He just took it to Rapid to have Mikey work his magic. Here is the mod list...
LS1 Motorsports Lid
K&N
TB Bypass
hacked off EGR tube
Hooker longtubes
ORY
Dynomouth
Taylor Thundervolts
NGK TR55s
LS6 clutch kit
160* stat
ported LS6 oil pump
Rollmaster (I think) timing chain
Crane spring kit
TR hardened (maybe they are chomemoly - I can're remember) rods
G5X3 on a 114.
4.10's
Nitto's
With all that stuff and a tune, it only made 380rwhp and 360rwtq. What is up with that? I would have thought it would have broken the 400 mark, but nope. You did read correctly that he is still running the LS1 intake. His gears are also whining like crazy, so that *might* be cause for some of the loss as well. Still, those 2 things couldn't add up to that much of a loss.
His clutch shows no signs of slipping, and he runs 92 octane or better.
I haven't talked to Mikey myself, but my buddy said he had to tune it in open loop. Mikey also mentioned that the car idled really well for that radical of a cam. He agreed that the numbers seemed a bit low for that combo.
I have no clue what to tell him. My buddy is pretty upset he spent that money to only get those results. What could be the holdup? Could it be that maybe they didn't send him a X3?
Any help or anything would be great.
He very well might have moved his dyno services. Far as I know everyone who's used the pottstown dyno has gotten lower than normal numbers myself included the day I dynoed there for my stock numbers.

Those numbers are pretty good cam only with stock LS1 intake. Have him throw on a LS6 intake and ported throttle body and redyno/retune

I don't think anything is wrong. How does it run at the track? Why does everyone get so bent out of shape with dyno numbers??? Your track numbers are the best gauge you could ask for. Dan

I already sold the LS6 intake I had. TB wouldnt fit on a 2000 SS. they changed sometime around then
I told him to go with the LS6 intake and throttle body before (especially since this cam NEEDS to breath up top), but he figured he'd still hit over 400 without it. I also feel the pulley would be a good idea, but he doesn't want to spend the money on one.
Now, would you guys say the 4.10's are hurting him by being so low, or do you think it's the fact that the gears need replaced?
Also besides tuning in open loop, he mentioned that it was a very conservative tune. I don't doubt Mikey's tuning abilities as he knows 100% more than I do, plus he has a name for himself, but I wonder why it seems he wouldn't have done much with the tune.
Also, you guys mention Pottstown... I went to a shop down there when I had my Mustang called Performance Specialties to get my gears put in. They had a dyno there... they were a bunch of filthy, shady reds. Is that's where Mikey was taking his cars? If so, I could see why they might be lower numbers

Thanks everyone for the replies! Keep them coming!
