Default Timing gear just slides onto crank... Problem?

I was working on assembling my shortblock tonight and when I got all my pistons and rods in, I grabbed my new timing chain lower gear to install it on the crank. Well, to my surprise it just slipped on without any need to press it on. It's a JP Performance billet timing set that I got from BTR. The old stock timing gear needed to be pulled off, but this one is a two piece. Separate gear and oil pump drive. My concern is without a press fit, it's going to beat the hell out of the keyway and cause it to fail. Anyone ran into this before?

When you put on the oil pump and the crank damper, all will become clear. (and tight)

I know the damper and bolt bring everything together, but I don't think the bolt provides enough clamping force to keep the timing gear from oscillating back and forth due to harmonics and shearing the keyway eventually. Or maybe I'm wrong - I just don't recall a timing gear being so easy to install.

sliding on easily isnt a problem, but it shouldnt have any rotational play.

I have the same timing set from BTR and the gear slid on. It's been fine for years at 7k+

You don't think the bolt provides enough clamping force? Have you seen the torque spec on that bolt?

Lol, yeah. The torque spec is "throw your back out trying to achieve it". It seemed to have a couple thousandths of rotational play, but that may have just been me wobbling it around. I'll recheck it today.

The torque spec on the bolt is something like 360 N-m (260 lb-ft). Ain't NOTHING gonna be ""oscillating" in there.

Most aftermarket timing gears slide on pretty easy. No worries here.
