Shame on you for endangering the dog! But being it was on her lap, maybe it is only a little yippie dog anyway? That is forgivable. 😉

I had a run in with a 5.slow a couple years back and I didn't know he was looking for a race when the light turned green. I was in second when I left and thought what the heck, the next light was maybe 1/4 away which was also my turn but I took her to about 7,000 and caught 3rd gear and it spun a little but I kept my foot in it until I ran him down and just as I began to pass the nose of that Mustang I got on the brakes to try and slow down and make my turn. Well that wasn't gonna happen so I kept going straight and by that time he slowed down with his hand out of the window and when I approached him he said " I could hear you coming! What the f%ck do you have under there? And I said with a big ole "It's just a motor" That wasn't the first time I've ran someone down in race and from what I've gathered the big bore LS's like it up in the higher RPM's.

Maybe not a topic for this thread because I have lots of lope and horrible gas mileage..

Yes, he was a Yorkie. Had to put him down last March 30. Miss him awful. He had Irritable Bowel Disease all his life. Spent $2,000 on him the last week of his life trying to save him, consulting with 3 veterinarians. To no avail. I'd do it again if it'd help him. Almost 12 years old. He LOVED my C5 convertible.......

Sorry for you and your wife's loss.

I lost my best friend on 9/14/21 and I still get choked up when I think about him. Had he lived a ripe old age it wouldn't have hurt so bad but he was only 10 years old and suffered a heat stroke during a hunting trip. Haven't been bird hunting with dogs in the month of September since.

Yeah you have to be careful with hunting dogs in hot weather. They will run them selves to death looking for birds. We always carry a lot of water for the dogs.

Losing a pet before their time is tough. I had a jack russell with Addison's Disease and we woke up to him dead beside our bed one morning. He had just turned 8. That one took a long time to come to peace with.

I had water but he needed a pond or something where he could get wet and a the few water bottles I had just wasn't enough. Had a flock of doves fly over and after hitting one out of the sky I sent them out. He ran out and came back up through some sage brush and I noticed his tounge was almost purple. It was probably 95 in the shade that day and when I noticed it I picked him up and carried him back to the truck and let him cool off in the A/C and he didn't hunt anymore that weekend. We came back into town from the 5-1/2 hour drive the next day and it was around 2AM when we showed up. It was raining and windy that morning and my wife had sent him out front to use the bathroom and he never came back to my calls. I spent most of the morning holloring, blowing my whistle and I even fired a couple shots in case he lost his way. It's pretty wooded out here where I live but there's subdivisions real close. I have ID tags on all my dogs and the next morning I got the call that someone had found my dog. I was so happy to see him but when he made eye contact he just kind of looked away and I knew then that sommething wasn't right with him. When I got him home and dried him off I noticed he would raise his haunches like he was feeling some discomfort so I took him straight to the vet to see what's wrong. He said my dog had pancreatitis and he administered a medication that knocked him out for the next 18 or hours and he gave me some medications to start giving him once he came out of it. When he came to I was giving him water through a turky baster and he would lap at it but basically no real signs of improvement so I was on the phone with the vet and he said give it some more time. I was very distraut and was on the phone with my brother and my wife said I needed to come back inside because Toby was vocalizing. I was laying there beside him and I could feel that his paws were getting cold and he let out a moan and he died..I'm ******* crying right now! When that dog died a peice of me went with him.. I have his son and his genes are very much around here but there will never be another one like him. Looking back now I wish I had thought to bring spray bottles and kept my dogs wet but I don't hunt with dogs in the heat no more. I'll never get over the loss of my running buddy.

I loved the way he lived but hate the way he went.

Here's the only video clip that I have of Toby

I'm really sorry for your losses, too. Sometimes a pet can be as close, or even closer, than family members. Dogs never tell you to leave, go get screwed, cheat you, or compare you to anyone. All they want to do is please you.....

So I’m curious why not buy a magnuson 2300 or similar complete blower kit for the same or barely more money? Then you can keep the stock cam and make 750 plus rwhp and torque with ease. Stock or better gas mileage on the highway and all the low end torque you could ever want.

you are lucky. I refrained from telling the full story of how my awesome cat died from poisoning 2 years ago. The thread was already sad enough.

It's been an interesting thread.

We went from:
  1. Blower vs heads/cam full bolt ons for the money
  2. How to do heads and cam cheaper with self ported heads and budget friendly parts like stock rockers, stock lifters, etc.
  3. Oem coyote block vs Oem LS block for strength at high horsepower levels.
  4. Oem coyote block vs aftermarket LS block for strength at high horsepower levels.
  5. Pets we've lost
  6. .....

I can see calling it out when people started talkin' Furds, but c'mon leave the puppies alone GT.

Lost my baby girl this past Christmas Eve to liver cancer. Her personality was as big as she was small. I've loved all our dogs and miss every one we've outlived, but she was extra special, unique, and irreplaceable. She loved riding in dad's truck too. Forever in our hearts.
