Default C5 Z06 Cam upgrade

Hello guys,

complete newbie here, i just want some info about my ls6.

im planning on upgrading my camshaft, im struggling with selecting all the good extras that are needed for this kit to work so we dont have to order again (im in europe).

currently i have configured:
SKU:TSP-CamKit2
Vehicle: Chevrolet - Corvette - 2001

- Cleetus McFarland "Bald Eagle" N/A Cam: 227/234, .6xx"/.6xx" (TSP-CATHBaldEagle-NA)
- 7.400" (TSP-7400-16)
- GM OEM LS2 Timing Chain ONLY (GM-12646387)
- Melling High Pressure Oil Pump (MEL-10295)
- Include Gasket Kit (TSP-FrontCoverGasketKit)
- COMP Cams LSx Rocker Arm Trunnion Upgrade (CMP-13702-KIT)
- ARP Wet Sump Balancer Bolt (ARP-234-2503)
- TSP LS Camshaft Retainer Plate and Bolts (TSP-CP9016)
- TSP Cathedral Valve Spring Compressor Tool (TSP-TSRAP-008K-Kit)



- Blue demon 42LB Injectors

- vararam intake

- gm/delphi LS7 Lifters (incl lifter trays)

- SUMMIT RACING HARMONIC BALANCER

can someone help me out and tell me if i can order this?

How many miles (km) are on your C5? If its not crazy high I would keep the stock oil pump. They are pretty robust and last.

If you are removing the heads to do the lifters then you would need to add head gaskets to your list, and head bolts since they are not re-usable.

Before blindly ordering pushrods, you should measure what the new combination will require. Chances are 7.4" will work, but its risky not measuring.

My c5 has 55K miles (90.000km)

The whole package includes lifters and the trunion upgrade.

and yes the bolts etc will also be ordered.

I would go with CHE for the trunion upgrade. The comp have been known to fail.

alright good to know,

so fuel injectors stage 3 cam ls7 lifters and harmonic balancer would be a good build?

Couple things.
New valve springs will be needed.
With the duration of that cam it's going to be pretty lumpy compared to your stock LS6 cam. Will you have enough vacuum for power brakes?
Also plan for a custom tune.

Yeah! tune and all of the other stuff is taken care off!

valve springs lifters rocker arms also taken care off!

To be honest, I don't think I would bother changing the lifters. If you do make sure you get them from a reputable place like BTR or Summit, and make absolutely sure that you only use OEM GM lifter trays from a reputable place too.

CHE trunnion kit is one of the best, don't use the Comp one.

I second leaving the lifters alone unless you go with a very high quality set like a Johnson 2110r.

I agree with other guys here, but I do have 1 question. Who recommended 42lb injectors?? 42s are stock in the LS7. My built LS7 is using the stock 42lb LS7 injectors. Unless youre planning on doing a considerable amount of mods in the future, 36lbs would be fine, IMHO. 36s might also have a better spray pattern for your application than 42s. Just a thought......

I second or 3rd the posts about avoiding the Comp trunnion "upgrade." I had one, sadly. Then after I posted comments about the quality (or lack thereof) of the kit, some had the audacity to say I needed to do a better job of pressing on the bearing cups/races! Let me tell you, I have 44 years experience in this kind of work as a journeyman T & D maker. To be blunt, if Comp hasn't updated the steel used in the trunnion, and/or the steel used in the needle bearings, this kit sucks. I went with a Brian Tooley Racing V2 trunnion kit. Far superior to the Comp kit. If the OP goes with the BTR kit, DO NOT go with the V1 kit. Problems with the V1 kit. V2 is the superior setup......
