time to go faster, cam&stall choices
ok guys i don't want to go to radical but i would like 400+ HP. i want to get a ls6 intake, cam, stall and i just want to port my stock ls1 heads. but what cam should i go with, i kinda like the G5x3 but i would like to keep my stall around 2800-3200 which is still streetable. oh yea i have 3.42 gear and the cam has to be nitrous friendly. any input is welcome thanks.

mine is in the mail. i have an M6, but i'm gonna be sprayin her too. excellent cam to make some very respectable numbers without going radical(well what we call radical nowadays, its off the charts on the extreme end on ls1howto.com's cam install guide.....how far we've come in such short time!!!!). this came loves the spray, nice traditional split. won't be disappointed. might want to up the stall to 3500 tho.

You can go with a much higher stall and still be "streetable". I have a TCI3500 with 3:73 and it is tight, I'll be running that with a 224/221 116 (SSII)
With a 231 cam, I would look into 4000 stall IMO. Minimum of 3500 street only.
JRP hit it on the dot, you want a cam that has good power under the curve and bottom torque to match.

If you go any bigger then a 224/224 then upgrade to a bigger stall.
I would say a 3800 is still street friendly and will really make a huge difference.
I myself wouldn't go under 3500 even with a stock cam.
A 3500 stall will feel no difference about 2 days later as far as driveability and you will never want a stock converter agian after you have a aftermarket one.
You say you want 400 RWHP, well that my friend is very hard to do in a A4, especially with the mac's, and flowmasters you have. That exhaust combo isn't the best especally with a large cam.
Dont get tied up in HP numbers as your car will always be lower then the M6 guys, just worry about how fast your car is. With 380 HP the correct stall converter slicks, and a good tune you can run mid 11's and have some nice 1.5-1.6 60 ft times.
Unless you plan on spending a TON of money you will never see 10's NA as it takes a normal weight A4 car around the 420-435 RWHP range, and this is very tough to do.
As far as nitrous goes, make sure you get a converter that works well on the juice.
Also make sure you tune before you spray and make sure you have enough fuel for the nitrous.

ditto everyone else... a 224 cam loves a 3200-3600 stall. Anything bigger in cam choice will probably want 4000-4400 stalls to make her see its peak potential
in my opinion a 3200-3600 stall is perfect for the street. I'd reccomend a 3600 for anyone. I had a 2800 once and hated it after 2 weeks. Damn car felt like stock and you couldnt even tell the stall was there!!!
i have the 224 .563 114 cam and its so so on the street. Its some cam surge here and there when coasting around 35-50mph around town. Little to no stalling on hot starts with minor tuning. She dynoed 399 with the TEA 1.5 heads and that cam so i was more than happy.
