Cool Just ordered cam and springs gotta a few ?'s

I ordered my cam and springs today! I can't wait until they come in. But anyways I would like to ask with 63,000 miles on my car should I replace more than just the springs? Like retainers, pushrods, ect. I bought the car from a 49 year old woman with 38 on the clock and you could tell it wasnt ragged on and properly maintained. Also I've taken real good care it maintence wise etc. So will the stock parts do just fine or should I look into some repalcement parts?
Thanks
Ike

You might want to get stronger pushrods a new timing set and think about a oilpump. If you're going to get an underdrive pully now would be a good time since it has to come off for cam change, also rockerarms if you are going to upgrade??For sure do the pushrods and timing set minimum.

I don't know which springs you are getting but new retainers and locks would be a good choice too!

I like your cam choice, the 918 will drop right in with the stock retainers, call and ask about the locks,I mean from the place you ordered the cam and springs.

I just did a cam on my 2001 with 66,000 miles on it. I went with a Comp 224XER (224/.581/112). I went with the Patriot Gold Dual Springs that came with new titanium retainers. Also put in the hardened TSP 7.400 pushrods and a new Rollmaster Double Roller Timing Chain. I only did the pushrods and chain because of the high miles. I liked the Patriot Gold set because it came iwth new seals and locks, plus the added security of the second spring.

I'll be doing a 231/237 in the near future, and I'll be installing a double roller adj timing chain, ported ls6 oil pump, hardened pushrods, PP gold dual springs(for the same reason glenn did, plus my cam NEEDS dual springs, i can't afford to run a single, not that anyone really can), prolly an asp pulley as well. as you can see i'm knockin out most of my bolt-on's out of the way with my cam install. hope to get lt's shortly prior to the cam install. that or they'll be done at the same time as well.

Replace what you can, it never hurts to run a stronger motor. Thats the way I look at it.
