Talking Need Big cam for 402 Stroker

Hey guys i want a really strong running 402 I am planning on getting the engine this winter but need to choose a cam. The car is a toy car so I don't want a little cam, give me some of your ideas for a big cam . I already have stage 2 5.3 heads to go with it.

Just call a shop and get a custom grind. It'll save you days of reading posts here.

I suggest most of the tuners at the right, FMS, TR, MTI, LG, Ed Curtis (non-sponsor I believe but hella-good from what I have read), etc.

They can tailor it to you. It saves you so much time to do it that way.

Are those 5.3 heads modified at all for the 4.0 bore? Dont the combustion chambers need to be opened up a little or does the little .050 lip not really matter much? I imagine that you have to flycut the pistons, especially with 5.3 heads no? Assuming that P-V colisions are not an issue, Youre probably looking into the 242 / .610 / 110 range. What size valves are in those 5.3 heads?

We have used a 248/254 in a few of the larger strokers with excellent results. We recently built a 383 cid for a customer that wanted this camshaft, and he put down 482 RWHP.

Give me a call or e-mail me at trevor@texas-speed.com if you have any specific questions or would like to discuss a few different options. We can custom-tailor a camshaft for your specific needs.

A big cam is going to be dwarfed by stage 2 5.3 heads. Just get in touch with a couple of sponsors to match a cam to your heads potential, ie: mid lift flow. That is how you should choose your cam.

Predator is right. Build your car with a set-up that is made to work together. Thats the best bang for the buck!
