Default Anyone have a ballpark of what it would cost...

To get just above 400 rwhp in my '04 C5? I am trying to keep as much stock as possible... cheaper is better I am thinking LTs, high-flow air bridge, and a cam? Also looking to keep the daily drivability of the car.

Thanks

If you do it your self it'll be about $1500. Or cheaper if you buy the parts off of someone. A Trex or a G5X3 on a 114 lsa cam with a good tune sould get ya there. Is it a M6 or A4. If its an auto a torque converter would really wake it up. I believe C5's have the same verters as LT1's.

It's an m6, and I'd install everything and get it dyno tuned. Have a buddy who has installed two cams in his t/a, and I have an uncle who did machine work / headers for 20 years so I'm set there. Also, I thought the trex was a bad cam for daily drivability?

With a good tune it should have pretty good drivability. Most cams w/ 114 LSA are ussually very steetable.

typical bolt-ons (intake, LT's, etc), a cam and a good tune should put you there no prob.

Headers with cats for a Vette is $1200 to $1800 depending on brand by them self.
It is hard to get 400rwhp and be the drivability you want.Looks like you want no lope at all.To hit your goal you'd be looking at headers, small Cam and a ported set of heads. That could add up to $4000 -$5000 quickly.

Lets not forget the potential costs to beef up the driveline to handle the extra power. That can add quite a bit to the budget. LG Longtubes and an FM13 + the supporting spings and pushrods will probably get you there or close. My current combo with clutch cost me around $5k. Did everything but the clutch install myself (felt the garage was to small to drop and manuever the rear drivetrain). Driveability is good. I average in 24-26mpg range.

Why not upgrade the intake? If he can, he should. Full bolt ons and a decent cam can get you there. May be over the $2k mark that Cannibal mentioned tho, like Slowhawk mentioned.

I have zip-tie mod with k&n dropin, so until I start dropping big bucks on the car I'll just use that. I am planning to buy LTs and an offroad x-pipe I think, so now I guess i'll just be looking for the right cam.
