Unhappy 383 with 254/256 598/612 110lsa

Ihave MTI 383ci with 2.05 1.6 heads with Z1 cam i gust put the new cam that i have 254/256 598/612 110lsa from APE and when i install the cam i trayed to started the car it runs and it turns off i did that 3 times at the last time i heard a noise that is something is broking then i trayed to started the car but it dosent whant to start.can some one tell me what that can it be.

what i think that the valve is broking if the valve is broking still the car can run but what is happing is some thing is holding that engine that would not let it starts.

thanks for help.

note:iam not good in english but iam trying to do my best.

Doing pretty good with the english man, Sounds to me like you had some piston to valve clearance issues..What pistons are you running and what cc are the valve releifs? Are the heads milled any?Does the car make any nasty noises when it is running now?

One of the expertes will have to chime in because I do not know how to calculate P/V clearance.....Are the pistons notched? Could a retainer/keeper have not seated correctly? Could the camshaft have been installed out of phase? Just some ideas

I'd not try to keep starting it at all. Either way there is a mechanical issue so start by pulling the valve covers first and continue going through it until you see something causing a problem.

Don't keep trying to run the engine... If it is a droped valve running the engine at all could be completely catastrophic.

sounds to me like you bent some valves, most likely the intake. make sure the cam is installed correctly and do a leak down test.

Make sure you have the cam installed properly, check the base circle and see if your pushrod length is correct. Finally find out from the builder what size valve reliefs you have.

Good luck
