HP/TQ diff between LS6/5.3 heads??

Default HP/TQ diff between LS6/5.3 heads??

What kind of flow differences and HP and Torque differences
would I see between a LS6 stlye LQ9 casting and a 5.3 casting.
Assuming both heads have Stage ll work, same 205/160 valves,
same 59cc chambers?? Any other advantages/disadvantages of
either of these heads?

the lq9's have better ports and chambers. and considering the price of the ls6 style heads i dont even know why'd one would consider the PP 5.7/5.3 heads.

Hey now Jermai, I have the PP 5.3's. I'm only bustin on ya! Seriously though, the LS6 style heads for a great bang for the buck. I wish I went for those at the time. Oh well.

ya, but you bought yours when they were ~1300 bucks and the ls6 style were ~1800 bucks.

now the ls6 style are ~1400 bucks

That is very true. Who knows, in the spring I might get thoe LS6 styles.

Any guess on the HP difference, if the heads had the same
valve size and chamber cc's ?

yea i wonder what kinda gains i could see h/c vs the same cam with stock heads... i want to PP ls6 heads mainly b/c they come assembled and it will save me a lot of piecing together.. ls1speed offers a h/c package for 2100$ with pushrods ect and stage 2 ls6 i believe.. if only they offered a cam i liked.

whats the rest of the setup and cam size?

FWIW a set of PP ls6 style heads that i had a chance to have independently flowed and spec'd out flowed my TEA/FFHP by a good margin from .400 and up. my 5.7's are similar to the PP 5.3's. take that for what its worth...

oh yea, same bench, operator, and conditions.

jrp, what type of port job did FFHP do on your heads? i thought i remembered them being a stage 1 in the beginning, but can't remember what you had done to them when they were refreshed. i'm keeping in mind no two shops' stage 2 job is necessarily the same, of course.

i've always liked TEA/FFHP's work, heard nothing but great things about them. Hard to beat PP's "LS6" stg2's for ~$1300 out the door tho, especially since they revamped 'em. Definitely great bang for the buck.

my head specs are

2.02/1.57 valves
224.5 int / 83.7 exh port volumes
3 angle valve job
milled .020

the CNC'ing was done by TEA and FFHP did some hand finishing and final assembly. the heads were not refreshed, started from a clean slate with a new 241 casting. i had my cam spec'd to the air flow and it cam out to 238/236 duration if that tells you anything
