Default MTI stage 2E heads and G1 cam....good match???

ive been thinking about how good of a match i picked out. the stage 2E heads have 2.02" and 1.56" valves. for some reason, i see that most ported heads that are offered go up to 2.02" and 1.57" valves. anyone know MTI's reason for staying with an almost stock size exhaust valve?

also, the G1 cam specs are 228/232 .588/.575 on a 113 lsa. i got mine custom cut on a 114 lsa for idle quality. my question is, with the intake duration being smaller than the exhaust duration, why would the lift on the intake be bigger than the exhaust? why is it matched up like that? i figured a smaller duration would be matched up with a smaller lift.

and finally, what makes these two (heads & cam) a good match?

Longer exhaust duration to get the stuff out.
TEA 1.5's use stock exhuast valve, and they work plenty fine.

Yeah I was talking to you..... I have been debating on that same set up but haven't been able to find much for results. Let us know when you get it running

Different lobes. That's why you have more duration but less lift on the exhaust. It doesn't have as fast a ramp rate. That's fairly standard for LS1 cams. Your combo should work out fine. 60-70rwhp gain easily.

The G1 cam is probably the best all-around cam MTI has for 346ci LS1s. I would have kept the 113LSA if it were me though. People who've deviated from MTI's proven lobe specs have made less power. A heads/cam C5 customer had his G1 ground on a 115LSA and made something like 412rwhp. Had he put in the standard G1, he most likely would have found a few lost ponies. But, it was HIS choice.

Anyone know what the G1 peaks at?

I was hoping that the G1 would have more low end than the X1......does it?

The 114 will move the power band higher in the RPM range.

Not necessarily. Depends on how much (if any) advance was ground into the cam. Installed intake centerline will change power peak rpm as much if not more than changing the LSA.

MTI tried countless combinations of intake/exhaust duration, LSA, and install intake centerline before they came up with the G1. Any time you deviate from that, you shouldn't be too upset if your combination doesn't perform as well as other peoples G1 cams.

What MTI stage 2e version did you get? You should be happy with them, really nice looking. I have the 5.7's on the Vette. Have not gotten to the dyno yet as am waiting for H)PTuners to send back my software. Hating the stock limiter right about now!

The reason it was "HIS" choice was because "HE" was told by Chris and David that it would make the same HP but later in the rpm range.

Also, "HE" was not pissed about the low numbers. "HE" was pissed about the bad customer service. Once "THEY" got his money "THEY" would not give "HIM" the time of day. "THEY" would not return "HIS" calls, kept "HIM" on hold then gave "HIM" the run-around and did not return "HIS" emails until "THEY" say these post.

In short I was unhappy with MTI's customer service after they received my funds. I have been IM'd by a handful who have had the same experience I had, from here and on the CorvetteForum. I was willing to put my modding ego behind me and say "hey I think this is not right!!!". Instead of being like most of the cheerleading Lemmings and pretending I am happy with the poor customer service just to save face.

There now, the truth...
