Default ASA Cam and LS6 Springs

I've read a thread on this which got pretty confusing. From the top (for my application); Say I want to install the GM ASA Hot Cam (226/236 dur @ 0.050 and 0.525/0.525 lift, 110), in my '02 Z28 SS. According to what I read, if I use '02 LS6 springs, I would not need to use shims. Please help. <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

ALL aluminum heads need some kind of hardened spring seat under the spring.

George (2002nhraformula) had the ASA cam with 02 LS6 springs that came with the GM CNC LS6 heads and was floating the valves. He's since switched to dual springs

Hey Phill99:
was the ASA cam car for street use? this is one rough dude.

..thinking of going with an ASA but the sound clip posted here is really loopy and LOUD!!!! ...does not sound like a good cam for street use to me... the sound clip is without cats and it uses a loudmouth....maybe it is not that bad>>??

The ASA definately works great in a big stall A4. I'm not so sure how great it would be in a street setup M6. One thing's for sure, it definately sounds mean as hell!

I wonder why it killed the 02 springs?

There supoosed to handle this cam no problem?Maybe from George spraying the car from time to time?

The 2002 LS6 spings do not need shims. I suspect the 918 spings would be a better choice, however...

You should try the "showroom stock" ASA cam. 239/251 .570/.570 106 LSA. This cam would hit harder than any cam on the market due to the 33 degrees of overlap.

I am not sure why the ASA would kill the springs either. Does anyone have any insight on this? 226/236 with only a .525 lift should not be bad on ls6 springs since a stock Z06 has lift of much higher. Could it have something to do with ramp rates, etc.
