Hey JS:
I wish I could go with a higher lift cam in the ported ls6 head...the flow sheets indicate the heads start to really flow at .550.

Unfortunately, the heads are milled .055 and you can;t go with much bigger cam...thivker gaskets and (or) flycutting pistons is a pain...

It's fairly close, I had the X1 for awhile but I had the idle set higher. If you had the idle at like 850 or so I'd say it'd be really close.

I am glad to see someone put in a cam without thinking about making the most RWHP you can get out of a cam. Sorry but I think duration is highly underated on this site. Nobody every speaks duration when comparing cams, the discussion on here is all about how much lift a cam has. Sorry but if you hold a valve open longer you get more air too.
Good to go against the norm sometimes,I think area under the curve this cam does better than most aftermarket grinds. GM spent some money on the ASA car engines to make them run, and I am sure they didn't slap a dead end cam into the engines.

It just simply will not die! At red lights its fine, cold start is fine, hot start it searches for a few seconds then settles into the same constant lope. A/c on or off its exactly the same. I'm sorta afraid to tune it, I don't want to screw it up. Oh yeah I just sold my loudmouth so I'm gonna run just headers and y pipe for a while!HA!

and you should have it tuned just see what your air fuel looks like.. maybe they can pick it apart and only fix the stuff that might need a little help.

Dont you love people who have no clue about a cam but will tell you all about it. Now I just have to wait one more week and my very own ASA will be in my hands <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .

The GMPP LS6 heads were designed around the ASA cam,and would work well with them. The Grand national cam would require piston notching.

I happen to have a new set of GMPP LS6 cnc ported heads for sale. They are brand new never run heads If anyone is interested.

Hey Hawkin01:
What is a Grand National cam? I have the same heads setting in my basement.

I assume the ASA cam would fit with thes .055 milled heads without any piston flycuts; is this correct?
