Default ls6 oil pump what oil Pressure

I installed an ls6 oil pump when I did the cam swap and nbow my oil pressure is lower then my stock pump was. I checked the ring it looks perfect and is not chewed up so i am just curious what my pressure should be at idle

I have 55-60 at a cold idle, and 45-50 from a warm idle. I see 70-75 at 2500+ rpm when still on the cool side, and 60-65 when at 2500+ rpm and I've been driving for awhile

That is exactly the psi's that my oil pump runs. I have a stock LS6 oil pump.

What psi is your pump running at? Did you put a new o-ring in there?

Did you score a cam breaing during the cam swap. I did once by accident and had the same oil pressure issues which eventually let to my motor going

How do you a score a cam bearing during installation? I am having similar low oil pressure issues after ls6 ported oil pump and cam swap.

I am also going to ask what do you mean by "score" a cam bearing.

Yup, Me too. I got it fixed immediately to save my motor tho. If it's not an o-ring issue this may be your problem. I hope not for your sake, It's an expensive repair.

My oil presure with the ported ls6 pump is like 30 at idle and 40 at 2200 RPM. Could it just be the o-ring slipped during the install? If so do I need to remove the pulley or can I just drop the pan down and get to it that way?

I put in a ported pump when I did my h/c swap. I had the same issue with losing about 5 to 7 psi across the board. I talked with a local shop and they said you have to shim the pumps to get more pressue. I had them shim it and I reinstalled it. I gained 10psi across the board versus the stock non-ported one I had on before the h/c swap.

I did the LS6 ported pump when the cam went in. The psi is much higher now. It was 40-45 at a warm idle, and now I get 60-60 at warm idle. I think it is worth the money ($125 or so).

Scratch or gouge it when the old cam came out or new one went in. Usually happens to the first cam bearing. If your oil pressure is down 20psi then shimming the oil pump isn't your fix ( you should never shim the pump anyway). Pull the cam out and see if the 1st cam bearing is scratched. If your fingernail catches in a groove when you scrape your nail across the bearing, then it needs replaced. Put it off now and replace your motor shortly there after... I scratched mine and noticed a 20psi drop in oil pressure immediately. Car seemed to run fine until I spun a main bearing. Sure wished I would have swapped out that bearing...
