Oil Temp / Fuel Pressure.........
Hey guys. Just hooked up my oil temp gauge and fuel pressure gauge. I was wondering if these readings are correct. I notice very quickly the car engine oil temp will get up to 240ish. The fuel pressure is always at about 62psi. When I nail it, it drops a couple to like 58.
thanks

240 is a tic high with reg. oil if you continue to run the high switch to syn. They can handle temps to 280.In circle track racing we try to keep oil temp to 220 to 240 and water around 195 to 210

I agree about 240 being too high. My LS1 stays at 195-205 degrees around town and 180-190 cruising the freeway. The highest it has ever gotten under hard use is only 230 degrees. Stock oil system 6.25qts and long filter. 240+ oil temps are not optimum for the engine. The hotter the oil gets the thinner it gets. In my marine 360 ci engine we run Synthetic 40-50 weight oils as after 10 secs of spraying a 150 wet shot the oil temps will rise from 195 degrees to over 280 degrees in 10 secs! This is with the addition of a large oil cooler. Where is your sender located?

I'm thinking I got the gauge sensor mounted in a hot spot because my water temp stays at around 210 tops. I got it mounted in the oil filter bracket. Drilled and tapped out the hole. A lot of people told me to put it there. I'm wondering if my longtubes are affecting it.

Take off the oil filter and use a 10mm socket and take off the attachment on the side of the adapter. There's a filled hole already there. Who knows what its for???? But drill the hole out and use a pipe thread tap and tap it out. Takes like 10 minutes to do the whole job.
