Just found out what was wrong with my car. The Rollmaster timing chain busted. The only way I think this would happen is with a defective chain. I guess now I will see what kink of damage was done. Has this happen to anyone? This is the old thread:https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/280345-help-motor-kinda-long.html
I have heard of all timing chains breaking. Thats why I reused my old one when I swapped cams. Its scary. Its bad enough to waste money on a part that breaks but when it takes out other things its bullshit.

mines the Rolon, which is the weaker chain IIRC.

How do you find that info out? I bought it from TSP: 11-1160 Rollmaster Ls1 heat-treated, double-roller adjustable timing set. Only had it in the car for a week or so. My shifts were set around 6400 with the TSP 233/239 cam.

The IWIS is the good chain made in Germany. The Rolon is made in France. There has been a lot of changes at Precision Cam Drive, mfg of Rollmaster, I hope this is not a sign of the future.

I was very surprised myself, what is strange the car drove fine, no noises or jerks. When I was my sisters house I started my car up and it was fine also. About 15 minutes later nothing. Very strange.

No noise on breakage = you got big lucky.

So you had no internal valve or piston damage?
The GM LS2 chain I ordered says made in France. Looks like a bicycle chain, almost afraid to put it on. According to others, the LS2 timing chain is stronger than the stock LS1, I dunno!
Did you take it apart yet?I'm wondering if the bolt's holding the cam retainer might of backed out and caught the top gear or maybe the Cam bolt's fell out?(I've seen that before)

Yes, always use loc-tite on the cam bolts.
Guys, with Roll masters, I would NOT worry! I ran one of these with a solid roller high lift cam which put a hell of alot of pressure one the chain, and NOO problems. I am gonna bet this is an install problem/piston to valve issue.

I've run single chains with no problems on any of the cars we've built. My personal Firehawk ran a single JWIS chain for over 150 1/4 passes with a .600 lift Cam.
