Default Biggest Baddest Best cam only cam..........

Which cam makes the BEST power on full bolt-ons with the stock unmilled heads? I searched, but could not find much info. Emissions, drivability and flycutting are not issues, I need the most power I can get out of a cam. G5X3? G5X4? F-?? TREX? TSP?? etc, etc??????? I know I will need springs, retainers, lifters, etc, etc. I dont want to touch the heads now, but maybe in the future I will get some good flowing ones. BTW, a th400 and 4:88 gears are going behind the motor. Thanks for the input, Joey

I'd say that the T-rex is still king in this department.

Thats good to know, I am leaning toward the LG cam, it is my first choice, but wanted to see what compared to it (if any).

Louis, I need a package with this cam, lifters, push rods, under pulley, timing chain, head bolts, gasket kit, etc, etc. Can you PM me with some pricing?

crane makes a 310/318 like 800lift cam but if we're talking ls1 specific the trex is a good one.

t-rex or g5x4 either one will do what you need. personally i run the t-rex but my decision was easier since the x4 wasnt out yet. i havent seen the track yet on the new setup but it made 430/390 without even having full boltons

It all depends on what you wanna do.
Bigger cams will make more power, but in a more narrow powerband.
Honestly, the F-15 is the biggest cam I'd ever want in a stock heads + bolt-ons application.

does the g5x4 fit under stock heads without fly cutting? how about the F-15? I know the t-rex does, just curious about the others.

I was torn between the T-Rex and the G5X4. I made my decision and just purchased the G5X4. I'm hoping for 10.80's @ 123. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm about 400~500 lbs heavier than Magnus and 01-Z.

Lou, can you tell me what the LSA is of the G5X4 or is it top secret? I could have sworn I heard it was either a 111 or a 108, I can't remember.

Edit: Nevermind, I found the link where you say it is on a 111. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...light=G5X4+LSA

If flycutting isn't an issue, you're certainly not limited to those you listed, as they were designed to be used without valve reliefs.

I believe the T-ReX is still the biggest, but the title of baddest seems to change from week-to-week.

Why not call up a sponsor like Futral and have them make a custom one for your application? You don't have to go with only what is pre-made for the masses.

You wont be disappointed with either the G5X4 or the T-Rex...

If you want an opinion between the two, I would go with the T-Rex. Yes, currently the two fastest are using the G5X4, but Rodney with the t-rex, is right there as well, and goin through a 6 speed.

Also matter's which year heads you have.98-00 don't really like the monster Cams. They seem to work alot better in the 01-02 headed cars.

I wouldnt say that, 01-Z and Magnus have the exact opposite engine packages when it comes to the bottom end.

Magnus is on a 99 or 98 long block with the 85x castings, and 01-z is on the 01 longblock with the 241 castings.

Both make 413 rwhp, both run 10.29s @ exactly 128.48 mph.

ill say the trex is definaltly the baddest imo, im a half tenth behind but 3 mph up on the other guys at the moment but i have a good 150lbs and im running a stick. just for comparison sake, in 2 identical cars im confident the trex would win. but maby im a lil biased. however the next few weeks shall hopfully prove this with no doubt.
stay tuned for further updates

Year 2000 with the 853 heads. Will there be much benefit with later style heads?

The Trex is a good cam, but I just like the Futral cams, that's why I got the FM-15.
