Default F13 with PRC's

Will an F13 on 112+2 have enough valve clearance using a set of PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads? This is the route I think I want to go if everything will work out ok without flycutting. I put down 356hp and 372ftlbs with the stock h/c any guesses as to what this combo will make(mods in sig).

yup. i think jlaw and gomer ran that setup. TSP or Racetech could best tell you since they sell the heads as well as Futral. Kip, Allan, or Candy could shed some light on it for ya.

I have installed the PRC 2.5 5.3L heads with a comp XER 230/232 112+2,it cleared fine.I still recommend that piston to valve clearance be checked.

435 at the ground or better through a M6 and around 400 with an A4. Should be fine with the F13 with the heads even milled up to .018-.020 or so. Let us know how it turns out

The guy is still lacking all the bolt ons, even has stock vette air intake. With heads, cam, headers, exhaust it made 425rwhp 390rwtq. A pulley, ported tb, air intake, and a few other tweaks will get it close to 445-450. It's an 03 M6 vette. I'll post the numbers after the bolt ons when we get them finished late next week.

You won't have any clearance problems whatsoever with the PRC stage 2.5's and your 231/237.

I wonder what kind of difference were looking at when going from say an F13 112+2 to a 114 lsa. It moves the powerband up right? but by how much and is there an overall HP/tq difference?

Maybe I had one of the first sets of PRC heads and they've since been revised, but I have a F13 114+4 and not only did I not have the recommended clearance (.080) but when I bolted a set of rockers on and tried to turn the motor over by hand it caught up around TDC. After checking PTV with a dial indicator I had -.010 clearance at 8* ATDC. Valve drop at TDC was only .123, I haven't been able to find out if this is normal or not??

Did you measure the thickness of your heads to see that they hadn't been milled?

No, I didn't, I just figured since I ordered them unmilled they would be. That would explain a lot though. How do you go about measuring the thickness?

I always get a set of calipers and measure from the deck of the head to the top of the head bolt hole on the bottom row of holes. I'll take a pic of where I'm talking about when I get home tonight and also what it is supposed to measure on an unmilled head.

It measures right around 1.615 from the top of the lower row of bolt holes to the deck of the head. I don't have my digital cam with me, but I'll find you a pic to "mark up".
