Default Forged internals cost for 600 hp LS1

I need an idea how much it would cost to make my LS1 safely handle 600 HP. I need some idea of costs of parts and labor. Also what parts would I need?

Thanks!

I agree the big question is nitrous, boost or NA. All different setups.

It won't be N/A if it is rwhp. When's the last time you have heard an ls1 make 600rwhp N/A?

Should I get forged internals (600 at the rear), will be turbo car.

forged internals are a must on an adder car. you want it to hold up.. then that's what you need. i would go w/ a 6.0 liter motor. you can use the stock crank from your motor, get forged rods and pistons, the iron block will hold up better to high h.p. levels and be cheaper. patriot sells good performing EXTREMELY affordable heads (get the stage 3 for running a 4" bore)... a good cam, ls-6 intake and boost it. and you're there. on pump gas depending on the cam and intake you can easily make 500 at the wheels w/ out going crazy on boost. you could also just get an assembled iron block stroker shortblock. a lot of the speedshops are selling them... they are very affordable. SLP 402, speed inc. 402, texas speed 402, ... others. hope this helps.

Default Forged internals question for 550 hp

I have a turbo 2002 Z28 A4 and am looking to make 550 hp and want to know what I should do to the engine internally. The car will be a street only car. What size injectors should I use? 42's are good up to what HP?

Should I stay with the stock block? Do I just need pistons, rods and rings?

I want the car to last a long, long, long time.

Please give me your ideas and rationale.

Thanks!

550 is a fairly easy # with the right setup.
First you need to make sure you have a turbo/intercooler setup big enough to make the power.

I would get with a sponsor.
Have them build a shortblock with forged pistons using a dished piston, good rods, rings, rod bolts, etc.
Then its geting a turbo cam and a good set of heads.
There is a TON of info on this site on different turbo setup's. Many make this power without moding the bottom end however if you want this to last a long time I would do the bottom. Look here, in the FI section, and in the dyno section for many results and good info.

If you're going to rev the car higher than 6200 RPMs then you should start thinking about getting forged rods and perhaps forged pistons. Higher RPM's put higher loads on the connecting rods, however if you're short on cash just rods will do in a pinch.

If you're thinking about going supercharger or turbo, you're going to need forged pistons take the abuse and most importantly the heat and detonation abuse. No forged piston will be able to endure sustained detonation, but if you do run into it a forged piston is less likely to be damaged.

If you're going with nitrous, get forged pistons to deal with the abuse!

Whatever you do, use ARP rod bolts when you put it all back together - they're far superior to the stock rod bolts.

How do you plan on getting to 550?

Default Forged internals question for turbo-HELP!

I have a single turbo 02 Z28 and am looking to make 600 hp and don't know what to to with the bottom end. Here are a few questions.

1. Should I stay with the stock block and just get new pistons, rods and rings?

2. Should I get a cast iron block?

What is my best option for a car that I want to last a long time. I don't want to sacrifice quality but want to try to keep costs down if possible.

Thanks!

Unless you want more displacement, I would go with option 1 to keep costs down. If you really want, you could get a girdle.

may times these days a company can build you a forged shortblock for almost the same price as what the components will cost you to buy and install yourself.that way you could sell the motor in the car now to recoup some cash youre trying to save.HPE is doing that with me.call around to some of the sponsor, look at HPE and Speed Inc.as they're very competitive.

Default Cost of forged bottom end for 02 LS1 is?

I have a single turbo LS1 A4 and am looking to forge my bottom end. How much can I expect to spend on parts and labor? I assume all I will need is pistons, rods, rings. Do I need anything else?

I plan on making 500 plus HP.

Thanks!!!
