Default super tiny metal shavings on the engine oil dipstick?

I just checked the oil, and it looks like there were some super tiny metal shavings on the dip stick. What does this mean typically?

Engine Wear, are they the same shavings you see on the oil drain plug?

i havent checked actually. It is a 100k mile motor. It seems to drive fine though, and I don't think I see any smoke or anything. Should I be worried?

If its chucks of metal I would be worried, But if they're the super fine shavings I really wouldn't worried about it.
The only thing a guy can do is check his oil, oil pressure to prevent abnormal engine wear

thanks - yeah they were basically specs. I was wondering about it. I'd like to keep it the way it is for a while, but when things start going out then I think I'll start modifying

what color are the flakes? If you hold it up to the light, and move it ever so slightly, like rock the dip stick back and fourth, you should be able to see a shimmer, if they are copper colored flakes, it is rod bearings that are wearing, if it is silver, I belive it is cam bearings. Might be the other way around, please correct me if im wrong guys

At minimum I would get a good oil filter. Never use a Fram. Wix/Mobil1/K&N are good.

For peace of mind I would get an oil analysis program started until you find outwhether or not you have any issues.

Nothing that a fully forged LS2 402 shortblock, awesome heads, a huge cam, and a FAST 90/90 couldn't fix!

Sorry, I'm board.

Change the oil, see how much is on the drain plug. It has a magnet in it, if there are larger shavings, start to worry.

Mine had a few slivers on the drain plug, then the next time they got worse... the next day... after the oil change, it went to ****...

dont worry too much, just keep an eye on oil pressure/noises, etc. cut the filter open and see wha tyou find in there too.

Does your oil pressure fluctuate a lot?

---I just bought an 05' Suburban Z71, my oil pressure has been fluctuating pretty bad, from 80-0 then back up, sensor goes off saying low oil pressure but then it goes right back up, my buddy checked my oil & found small shaving, pretty small specs really. Should I be concerned that this is a major issue or maybe just an Oil Pump / Sending unit issue?
