Default 918's and .598 lift ?

I was wondering if 918's will hold a cam with .595/.598 lift?
I know they are rated for .600 or .625 max lift, but does anyone on here have some first hand experience with this much lift on single valve spring 918's?
The reason I am asking is because I have the 918's on the car with 500 miles and I am thinking about upgrading to a cam with .595/.598 lift.
Will this combo work safely for occasional driving conditions?
Thanks for your help.

They'll handle up to .650 lift. For a .600 lift cam, I'd recommend putting a .050-.060" shim underneath for added pressure. Most likely, you'll be running a cam with fast ramps and you'll want the 918s to be .050" from coil bind to work best.

Well here is my dilemma...
The springs have already been installed for a TR 224 cam and I plan on upgrading to a Torquer II.
I do not want to pay someone to reinstall the springs since they are already installed.
I just want to pay someone to install the new cam and remove the old one.
Will I be alright doing so?
The car might get maybe 5,000 miles a year max and no drag racing, just a little fun here and there.

You should be fine with regularly installed 918's and the torquer two. Changing valvesprings or adding shims to current springs is not very hard to do, if it costs more to pay someone thatn to buy a good tool definately do it yourself.

Yeap just buy the Crane Tool for $100 from Vinci and you can change the springs yourself easily. You can also buy the Air Hose from Vinci to pressurize the cylinder to keep the valves from falling in. It takes about 1.5hrs to change all the springs. Fairly easy.

If you are planning or were planning on doing spark plugs, do them at the same time as well.

Hey guys, I appreciate the advice.
But here is what I am inquiring about…
Can I not keep the springs EXACTLY the way they are currently installed and not have any issues in the future?
I just want to pay someone to install the cam and not have to deal with anything else.
The car will not be raced, just driven on occasion.
Should I be looking at another cam instead of the Torquer II with less lift?
I just want a cam with more lope than my TR 224/224 .563/.563 112 lsa.
Once again, thanks for your responces.
Any advice would be appreciated...

Yes techincally it will be fine, but you should measure the install height with a valvespring tool and then shim it up to specs. Otherwise all that can really happen in your case is possible valvefloat because you dont have the correct seat pressure.

Many people fail to do this. But its not a huge deal if you are more than 1.8", you just dont get the correct seat pressure and then most likely will get valve float a bit in the upper rpms if you looked at your dyno chart.

Now if your are the other way where your install height is 1.7 or so, then you could be running into potential problems such as coilbind and possibly snap the spring itself. But in your case you can get away with it, but if you want to be **** and be on point, you need to shim it up.

That's exactly what I have on my 233/239 .600 TSP, 918s with a .050 shim,
Six hours on the engine and one race weekend, no problems.
