Default if you have ever had a knock in your motor..come in

my car drove fine, i came home, cranked it up the next day, and it now knocks and chugs and it sounds like a loud slap/knock, and then it quiets down after i rev it above 1100...the only thing that may have happened is, my bro was showing it to some friends, cranked it up cold, and then revved it up hard one time, could he have broken a valve spring, or what could he have done.....im just ill over this whole thing

I say pull the covers and see how the springs look. If you don't see anything wrong then I wish you luck!

I don't think a busted spring makes a noiz like that. It sounds like some busted hard parts in the short block...

I suposse it could be a busted push rod; they are commonly busted parts in Gen 3s... since they are not hardened from the factory... take the rockers off and see....

PS - you should not rev your engine without a load. Especially when the engine is cold - this is like playing with dynomite!

Most likely you knocked out a rod bearing. A lot of times you'll hear it more at idle initially, until it gets worse... An all aluminum block with steel components should always be fully warmed up before going wide open throttle, as different types of materials expand and stabalize at different temps. Bob

Reving the motor with no load is dumb. Does you brother have BIG dough for repairs?

Hey five0killr clean out your PM's....

Same deal with mine...my mechanic (ramairws6) looked at it since it was at his shop anyway and said it was my flywheel bolts also. He did my head and cam swap last Aug and also put on a TCI flexplate. Thread locked them and everything also. Said the Flexplate has a coating on it that wore down and that is how it got loose. Shew! no 402 motor just yet..

Probably just put the car away for now and my couisn is building me a 2004 4L60 roller trans and we will just swap them out in the spring. He rebuilt mine this July that is working great spraying threw the shifts but this one should be better..

Thanks for your info and getting back to me........
