Default Turn car off, engine sounds like crap when sutting off after cam??

I'm not sure if this is just a pure effect from the cam, or something needs to be adjusted in the tune or torques, but when I shut the engine off, instead of immediately shutting off smoothly with no noise, rattle or anything else like it used to,
it now rattles, knocks around and sounds like garbage when it stops.

Is this just b/c of the big cam in there?

Just wondering...

May be a stupid question, but are you doing anything differently... like leaving the clutch out when you shut it down?

If I dont keep the clutch pushed in when I shut it down, it sounds like a bunch of marbles in a can.

Mine does the same thing. I think it's just the effect of the cam. If it's not then I have the same problem you have.

3 Out Of 4 I'd say it's from the cam.

ok cool. Wasn't sure if anyone else had the same thing or not. doesn't sound pretty that's all I know. Feels and sounds like the engine took a crap, lol.

Oh, you shouldn't need to keep your clutch in to shut off your car, just put it in neutral.

Think its your throw out bearing going, not your engine.

My big cam motor shuts off perfectly fine, just like normal. Even before the tune. After I got it tuned, no difference - shuts off just like stock.

Are you guys sure the motor isn't shaking slightly after being turned off, making the exhaust knock against the bottom of the car?

Are you tuned?

No, definately not, the engine kinda winds down after shutting off. turn key off, engine boggles for 1 second making some weird knock/rattle sound and shakes like a ****!

sounds like dieseling, but i would have thought was impossible in a fuel injected car.

Definitely sounds to me like dieseling, which is a form of autoignition in which a gasoline engine continues to fire after the ignition has been shut off. In late-model emission-controlled engines, dieseling or run-on is caused by heat and the unusually high manifold pressure that result from retarding the spark at idle.

Again I ask - did you get the car tuned after the cam install?

Yes my car is 100% tuned by one of the best tuners here in Florida. When you turn the car off it takes about 5 seconds for it to completly shut off. Basically it acts like it just stalls. The rpms just keep going down until it shuts down completly.

Maybe it's carbon deposits that are hot and keeps the engine running without spark. Engine does have 104,000 miles on it, and ran very rich for probably at least 5,000 miles (untuned cam).

Yeah mine does it a tad, def not 5 seconds, but you described it pretty much perfectly.

It could be dieseling, thats the first thing I thought of when I saw the topic. (I remember you replied to my post about it like 8 months ago 777)

Depending on how old your fuel injectors are, the high manifold vacuum could be pulling some fuel out of the injectors. How it is combusting, I don't know.

Doubt it's the cam. My daily driver manual Neon does this too. Has to be something mechanical.
